Lol I don't get it.. are they tryna replace Dak in two years? maybe that is their plan to clear up some cap space going forward.

Dak is going to continue costing them a fortune, so maybe they think they can get adequate play out of Lance. I've always said that I thought Trey's ceiling was a Dak type player.

Trey will be better than Dak when it's all said and done. Dak is in Kirk Cousins territory for me.

Trey gonna drop some 5k passing seasons?

Watching a few Dallas fan YouTubes this morning and they pretty much are all sticking to like 7 to 10 throws on repeat.

I will say this, I was wayyyyyyy off on Cooper Rush...... I remember Dallas guys going nuts over him, first guy to win his first 5 games as a QB, 5-1 record...they loved the dude....

Now?

Nope.... they really don't seem to like Cooper Rush....I don't know what he did...but the narrative from YouTube guys is flipped. Some of them don't know how he beat out Grier. They all seem to think Trey takes that back up job sooner rather than later. Some think 30-40 days from now.

I don't know if they are over valuing Trey, or how wrong I am on Cooper Rush.

I have a feeling that fan base thinks Trey is something that Trey simple isn't at this point in his career. They are going to flip on him so hard if he goes in and struggles... Some of them seem to think they stole a top 3 QB prospect for a 4th rounder, not that the 49ers screwed the pooch drafting Trey....

Trey never got booed here....regardless of his struggles, I hope Dak stays up and they use Cooper if he doesn't.... I don't want Trey to have to go threw hostile fans in what is suppose to be his home stadium.

Side note, Dallas has real salary issues...they are going to be thinning out recent draft choices to make their 53....I wonder if QB depth chart is in play.
I think Prescott is signed through next season. By then they should have a pretty good idea of whether Trey will be their next guy. I hope it works out for Trey because he seemed like a good kid. It's not his fault that he was over drafted, got injured twice and was handled poorly. I just hope he never has a big game against the Niners.

I still don't get that comment when people say "He was handled poorly"?? How was he handled poorly, what would you (fans in general) have done different?? Two things that were working against Lance when he got drafted, one was that he was a very inexperienced QB. Two, his contract inflates as soon as he signed it which was pretty much the timer on his development. Then Brock Purdy happened, I don't know any team that would've moved off from a young QB that has the contract of Purdy and go back to their expensive unknown project of a QB.

Yes they signed two veteran QB's and put Lance on the hotseat, but he had every opportunity to beat both of them out and had quite an advantage over both too. Should they have given Lance the #2 job straight out with very little competition and not strengthen the depth behind Purdy and Lance?? Purdy's recovery was an unknown and no one knew what to expect with all the delays in his surgery, signing Darnold was the right move, cause it very well could've been QB1 Lance and QB2 Darnold.

Seeing as now a ton of cowboy fans hate dak and think he's terrible, I'm sure they won't be thrilled with Lance. Especially because of how quickly romo and dak were serviceable QBs. Lance isn't going to have that phase initially, he needs to play a lot before he starts slinging it, IMO. He also needs to learn the system. He's never really had to switch systems before, that I'm aware of - so that'll be new to him and he doesn't have an off season of coaching to get it. He's going to have to learn it on the fly.

yeah, they're talking about extending Dak and I think think they have to. They owe him $60M next year against the cap and $35M in 2025+2026, when he isn't even under contract. They just resigned Cooper rush to a 2 year 5M deal, now sure how much guaranteed.

they need to resign micah parsons after this year too. He's going to want an extension.

I don't get it either, he was given a fair shot by the organization, but those chances were cut short because of injuries. His chances going away has nothing to do with something the 49ers did, it's just Unfortunate injures and then that window closed. While he was down and out, another player stepped up officially Sealing that window closed. The team did right by him his first and second year, after that - he was too far behind and the team didn't have a reason anymore to continue giving him a chance, another young player stepped up and did what he was expected to do.

Me either. Trey was being given a fair shot. He was being handed the undisputed QB1 role in season 2. He got injured, and that was unfortunate. The team had to get Sam Darnold because noboby was certain about brock's recovery at that time. Sam won the QB2 battle fair and square, and Trey choose to quit the team. From the team's standpoint, every move was logical. You cannot make a good argument that Brock should sit; You also cannot make a good argument that the team should not have signed a QB like Sam this offseason given the uncertainty.

I agree, every move was logical and you're right there is absolutely NO argument you can make to sit Brock. Especially when they saw every day how hard he was working on rehabbing his arm. But again his recovery was an unknown. As for Darnold, sure there was mutual interest on both sides, but Darnold is the one that wanted to come to SF and signed for less when he could've signed for more on the market. Anyone would've made that signing with how weak the 49ers depth chart was at QB.

The illogical choice would've been to keep Lance at QB3 for $9 million, again what team does that??

The catch to all of this is that people on here are saying that because Of treys "upside", we should of had him be #2 instead of darnold. The problem with that is that the team just traded Trey to a conference rival…. In other words, they don't believe he has upside. If they thought he had a bunch of potential, there is no way in hell we would of sent him there, especially for a fourth. We would of accepted a 7th and sent him to the AFC.

That's the part some aren't getting or refuse to accept, they clearly, after spending nearly 2.5 years with him, don't think he had the upside that they initially thought.

The extreme Trey fans just want to blame someone else other than Trey for him being traded to the Cowgirls. The bottom line is Trey wanted out. Kyle wanted him to stay and develop him as QB3. This shows Trey had poor character in the sense he was not willing to bow to coaches decision and was not humble. Jimmy G swallowed humble pie and ended up getting another opportunity where he played well and got an opportunity to be a starter for the Raiders on good money that he might not have got.

All Trey has done has moved sideways. He is still QB3 and Cooper Rush is better than him by far at the moment. No way is Trey a threat to Dak. Dak is signed until the end of 2025. I doubt Trey will be anywhere near Dak's level by then. He certainly wont be a starter there bar injury until 2026. I think it is stupid decision by Trey to go there but that is his and Dallas's problem now.
Not sure why many of you refused to connect the dots. To me it was elephant in the room.

A few posters and I have been posting for months about the team isn't high on Trey based on the team's actions (Trey having to compete for QB2, the team signed Allen, and etc). We have also discussed the possibility of Trey being traded this season. This was being completely dismissed as if we were crazy and/or being racist. Turns out we were completely correct. To not be able to post that possibility without being harassed was just insane.
From what I watched with Trey he seemed to be unsure of himself. It was like he would hold onto the ball and be to hesitant to just throw the ball. I believe he lost confidence and was trying not to make a mistake instead of getting rid of the ball quickly. I like the kid but he has talent but needs playing time and he needs to get his confidence back. JMHO, but that's on Dallas now, not our problem anymore. Good luck TL. But bye bye

i got that last week.
I can't believe that darnold and his 4000 turnovers with the jets resulted in a 2nd and 2 other picks, while he had an $18m salary, but he's trash and Lance is not. Lol that isn't what the market is telling us and that isn't what Kyle/Lynch is telling us by sending him to a conference rival.
