I think us overvaluing his value definitely played a part. Steelers were reported at one point. Maybe they didn't want to pay the price and promptly went and got Trubisky as plan B. Washington was also reported and they did pay a heavy price for Wentz. Maybe Jimmy said f**k Washington and decided to get the surgery. Who knows. I think it worked to our advantage in the end.

We definitely lucked into an ideal situation with how it played out. Idk what we were goin to trade him for but I think a second or third round pick.

ultimately, we got like 11-12 weeks of play out of him and a third (comp pick!)

idk how it would of worked out if Brock started week 2, I like to think that him watching jimmy for all those weeks and learning played a big part in how he looked.

all I can say is ... we traded the farm for Lance and we traded Lance after 4 games..
can this get to 10k before Jimmy's?
Kinda shock at no press Confrence, no press availability for Trey...they got him in and went radio silent. Trey also had nothing to say...no goodbye SF, no goodbye Faithful ..... the only message from him, was a repost welcoming him to Dallas.

TBH I really did expect the other side of the story to drop. We were told, trey got demoted, trey then requested a trade and the 49ers let Trey's agent find offers. I guess there is not really any more to the story then that.

With hardly even playing for SF, maybe he just wants to make like SF didn't even happen in his career.

Why do so many people keep saying this? As if the 4 games is the only part of the assessment for Kyle. He sees him every day in practice, film room, pre-season, etc. Just listen to his presser after they made the trade, he clearly spells it out that Trey is not a fit and it didn't work out.

I guess, probably something like that....shame considering how many 49er fans have been in his corner throughout all the ups and downs. He has been through alot in his young career, but he did not go through that alone...thousands of fans were right there with him checking status reports and wishing him well. He never really had the Alex Smith treatment were the fan base turned on him by a significant degree.

Maybe it is the whole Dallas thing and he does not want to trigger his new fan base lol.

Well, as strange as the trade looked from our end, take a gander as to how it looked at DAL end. At press conference, big Jer proudly announced that neither Dak nor McCarthy knew of the trade. Later Dak showed no emotion and said, welp, it is all just business. No way our owner pulls a stunt like that. As for the HC…BIG Jer, aka Jerra, showed him what he thot of him…nothing. Gotta love the cowboys…w/ big Jer there, they will never win another Lombardi. 81 yrs old and way past being put out to pasture

Kinda makes sense because if you think about it, the defense had to ask him to be more aggressive as the scout team QB. So when he did that, he turned it over (more often than not, it sounds like).

then fast forward, he has a rough camp his second year and that kinda shown in his play in that pre season and first game (monsoon or not, still a bit of late/in accurate passes).

so you fast forward to this off season, he was very gunshy and then when he did attempt to pull the trigger, it was late typically (unless the guy was wide open) and nearly picked. I think he had like 6 TWP in two pre season games this year.

the mental side of the game is extremely important and it sounds like he struggled with it and has always been a little bit of a pleaser (which everyone likes him and thinks he's a nice guy). That's a tough combo to be as an NFL qb. You need to be comfortable being an a*****e here and there and confident that you can back that up.

Tryna save face. Jerry already threw it all under the bus but they're trying to make Trey feel better about it, makes sense.

eventually the truth gets out......

Jimmy Gs reaction makes more sense
the teams body language at the start of last year makes more sense
the teams reaction to Jimmy G coming back on the field in game 2 makes more sense

running Trey like he ran in college makes more sense right now

the fact Lynch and Shanny appear relived that Trey is not their problem any more makes more sense right now

I have more respect for Papa not throwing Trey under the bus while he was on the 49ers.
