But he's still a #3. Only his address has changed. We received a 4th round pick.

Why'd we trade him? There's more here. Was it for the pick? If so, that doesn't speak much to the front office's opinion of him. Was there discontentment expressed behind closed doors on his part?

He flat sucks. We traded him cuz his best value to us was the cap relief we get back, from DAL taking on the contract. That's it folks.

He legit needs a G League, where he can throw 40 passes a game and level up. No NFL team will give him that, but it's what he needs. G League Lance.

NFL Europe.
Honestly it could be the worst draft pick in NFL history. I think Ryan Leaf had more talent. It's unbelievable. Especially when you consider what we gave up.

It has to be up there. The assets, the lack of experience and even talent, the trade itself, drafting a project on a ready to roll roster. It really couldn't have been much worse. The only way it's forgiven is if we win a Super Bowl in the next few years.
just from scrolling the first few pages of this thread, it looks like everybody was on board. I was skeptical but trusted Kyle. Was anyone here suspicious of Trey from the get go?
Some media outlets are all over the FO but by and large I think the proximity to week 1 is helping them evade too heavy of criticism. Just get Bosa signed

Well, as strange as the trade looked from our end, take a gander as to how it looked at DAL end. At press conference, big Jer proudly announced that neither Dak nor McCarthy knew of the trade. Later Dak showed no emotion and said, welp, it is all just business. No way our owner pulls a stunt like that. As for the HC…BIG Jer, aka Jerra, showed him what he thot of him…nothing. Gotta love the cowboys…w/ big Jer there, they will never win another Lombardi. 81 yrs old and way past being put out to pasture

Thx boast…my bro in Ft Worth didn't hear about this either.

I've never seen a player in my life that keeps getting a spot on the roster when he's consistently the worst QB on the team. Lol

2021: given QB2 (which I get it but he still didn't earn it)
2022: handed QB1 when he was the worst qb on the roster
2023: gets beat out by darnold and Team goes with Brandon allen
2023: will Grier is better but still gets cut to make room for him. Still the worst QB on the roster.

Honestly, it's impressive.

Have you ever seen a top 3 pick in your life not be on a team in the 3rd season after he was drafted?

I don't think it's happened before, right? Maybe Ryan leaf? How long was he a charger?

RB Trent Richardson was traded away early in his 2nd season.

Ditka Trading an entire draft for a stoner dude was pretty bad too. I mean, he was just a running back. I understand taking a big risk for a qb. It sucks to miss, but its flat out stupid as f**k to think that anything other than losing or felonies are going to get Kyle or John fired after the success they've had in building a competitive roster.

Dear baby Jesus can we stop talking about this dude.

i can't get through one sports show without hearing about how the 49ers failed Trey. Or how the coaches loved him and his work ethic. Or how BA stated Lance light up when being traded. Or how Jimmy G thinks Trey will have an amazing career.

Fact is we just don't know what he will be or what could have been. Same could be said for the prom date you never asked out. Trey was already raw when drafted. Then to miss all the time he did made it worse and we cut bait. I get the whole Kings ransom issue with draft capital but that's over. Let's move on.

Talking heads saying Shanny should be fired if we don't win the Superbowl it's ridiculous. Look where we have gotten the last four years with slightly above average qb play. Same heads kept saying we could only win with Jimmy we're proven wrong by Purdy. Let's all just enjoy the ride. It's been better than the early 2000 right?

He would be a star in NFL New Zealand

Better then the mid 2010s as well.

Agreed, I think Leaf's biggest downfall was his attitude. And at least he only cost the Chargers 1 first round pick and eventually got LT and Drew Brees out of it .

Trey's a clown because he's excited for a new opportunity? Man… y'all too emotional about this.

faithful repeatedly calling him "G league Trey"

Yet I was called a Jimmy hater for much much less. Hypocrisy at its finest.

I've heard that take from countless ppl on TV etc, it's just the truth. He needs a league where he can throw 40 times a game. No NFL team can give him this. Kyle Shanahan said this. Kyle said, there is no developmental league. That's what he needs. LeSean McCoy said he needs to be in G League. That's who he is. In reality. If you want to pump him up to be more than he is, be my guest. If we want to remember back, remember when you said there is no way we even bring in a vet to compete with Lance? You told me I don't understand how QB competitions and NFL offseasons work? Remember this? Just calling it as it is, then and now. No hate, just eyes open and reporting back what I see.

There are different draft value chart, but I believe Five 32 overall pick is approximately equivalent to one 1st overall pick. So it is weird to value all 1st round picks as if they are equivalent.
Ppl saying there is hypocriscy , whatever that means, as if they don't realize this is the DAL QB3 thread. At what point will it dawn on ppl, maybe this guy isn't it? Maybe the folks who had legit criticisms, weren't being hypocritical, they were being accurate.
