The odds are greater that monkeys come flying out of my nether region.

Odds are even worse than that if he is a 3rd stringer in the NFL next season or out of football entirely.

No coach would want to take credit for giving up three first round picks for Trey either.

Player evaluation must be incredibly difficult with players moving around so much due to the transfer portal. I know this wasn't the issue in Trey's case but it seems like scouting is a lost art these days.

Trey came out after they had that weird year during Covid. Five QBs drafted and the only one that's any good is Lawrence. It wasn't bad drafting as much as it was bad timing. Stats and performance were hard to evaluate due to so many players sitting out because of Covid.

i agree with you in that covid was a problem. lance missing a huge developmental year should have given our leadership more pause. on the flip side, you have some guys who got an extra year with covid, guys like j daniels and bo nix. jayden daniels threw a college touchdown to aiyuk over lenoir to beat justin herberts ducks. dude was in college in 2019 and just now wrapped his rook season.

And I would argue that he isnt good. He is mediocre at best.

It's not an argument. I said any good. Not great. He's been a starter since his rookie season on a bad team. On a good team he would probably be much better. Maybe a top 15 QB. I doubt Purdy would be seeking $50 million per yer if he had played for the Jags. Maybe not even starting.

Well, situations are situations....and hypotheticals are hypotheticals. So far Purdy has been better than Lawrence in every conceivable way.

I would agree with this. The second line especially. It's clear that Purdy was overlooked in the draft. Dismissed by many so called "pundits." I see the same kinds of misses taking place with this year's draft. The PFF QB list is but one example. It lists 15 QB's from major schools only. The conference that Purdy came out of? Completely ignored. It's clear that NFL teams do not ignore these players. The pundits, however, do. Which is why I dismiss PFF and others of their ilk completely.
I'd have to agree here — especially with that second point. Purdy was clearly overlooked coming out of college, written off by most of the so-called "experts." And you can already see the same thing happening in this year's draft cycle.

Just look at the latest QB rankings from PFF: it's all Power 5 guys, no attention given to smaller conferences — including the one Purdy came from. NFL scouts clearly do their homework, but the media types? They stick to the same safe narratives every year.

This is exactly why I take everything from PFF and similar outlets with a grain of salt. They're not watching everyone — just the names that trend.

What conference do you think Iowa State plays in?

Who simped? We all knew he was a project and most of us were eerie when we made the trade. Why is it funny? Aren't you a 9er fan? Garropplo on the other hand definitely had simps I lost faith in him after his 2nd year here
