Hoping for a different ending this time.

It got better before it ended though. Indisputable.

It will be fine. Kyle is a much better coach and OC than HaRoman. With Jimmy training him up a la Alex Smith, I can see his upside being Steve Young/Pat Mahomes. Oh in the offseason he can train with Steve Young, Mike Shanahan and Beck. (i don't think Mike Shanahan can be considered an NFL coach/employee since he's retired )

Greg Roman ain't calling plays this time around

exactly! Worked well for Lamar Jackson for a year but teams are beginning to figure them out now. Lamar's 2nd year much worse than this first. By the way, its much easier to run now with QB sliding protection rules. We finally have a QB to exploit this with a genius play-caller (someone no one would call Greg Roman)

Totally agree. Maybe Kyle can take his offense to the next level. Wherever and whatever that is. I'm just really excited to see how creative Kyle can be.
Why are people comparing him to Kap? just because they look similar? Kap knew one type of throw and was a beeline runner.

isnt this a great day where all the so called "insiders" were all proven wrong. This proves that they don't know s**t and should never be trusted especially that pothead michael silver and his boyfriend kawakami. maiocco can kick rocks as well. all of them got exposed big time

Maiocco nailed the Lance at 3 the day we made the trade.

no he did not. he said jones and kept pushing.
We need to stop with the kaepernick and Lance comparisons. Just because he can run and is half black? Stop it. Lance plays more like Josh Allen. Lance played a pro style offense and is much more elusive. Kaepernick was straight line speed guy who has to gain a stride to take off. When I see Lance, I compare his pocket presence & mobility to Russell Wilson and his size & throwing talent to Josh Allen

Bigger Russell Wilson? I like it! The NFC west teams are going to be sweating once he's unleashed! Can't wait!
I was a little skeptical about Trey Lance as a prospect due to the accuracy issues and small sample size, but now I do think he will be really good. With the way the first round went I think it is likely that Trey Lance was the guy that Atlanta/Carolina/Denver were all in love with and from Kyle's interviews it sounds like he is really in love with him.

Seems reminiscent of Patrick Mahomes around his draft, where he was just absolutely blowing people away behind the scenes.

I definitely hope they coach him up fast as a legit NFL passer. But imagine in a few years after NFL conditioning and his bones/muscles are fully there, stronger and just a little bigger... there may not be a lot of LBs and DBs that he won't run over.

Bad comparison - Kap threw nothing but fastballs, Trey also throws with touch.

The 49ers ultimately opted for Trey Lance over Mac Jones. What do you think of the pick and the fit in Kyle Shanahan's offense? Do you see him starting right away?
Graham: I always liked Lance over Jones in this situation because of Lance's ceiling, but I fell for the pre-draft okey-doke and bought into the Jones-to-SF buzz. Jones is more NFL-ready and could've started this year for San Francisco, but with Jimmy Garoppolo on the roster, Lance has room to wait and grow. Lance threw only 318 Division I-AA passes. The expectation is that he'll need extra care in adjusting to the NFL's intricacies and power, and Garoppolo provides that space.

Pompei: Lance is a different quarterback from many of the ones Kyle Shanahan has worked with. But Shanahan has worked well with different styles of quarterbacks. Lance makes sense for the 49ers because he needs time to develop, and Jimmy Garoppolo gives the 49ers the leeway to develop him. I would expect Lance will sit for one season, unless circumstances demand that he plays.

Sando: The choice was refreshing after all the speculation that Jones would be the choice. The fit should be a good one because the system is easy on quarterbacks with so much play action and with such a good play caller there. There wouldn't seem to be any reason for Lance to struggle with the system. With New England selecting Jones, the chances for Jimmy Garoppolo sticking around in San Francisco seem higher, which would give San Francisco a chance to bring along Lance at a slower pace if the team feels that is the way to go.

I been saying iterations this for the past few days. How was this not seen as the most reasonable course of action? We trade Jimmy, trade three firsts and a third for a rookie QB in Mac that projects similarly to Jimmy to lead our Super Bowl roster this season? Just didn't make any sense.
So Is this the guy Kyle wanted, or the guy Lynch wanted?

Kap can't hold a candle to this Trey's jock strap #bookIt

Seems like both but apparently Kyle has been obsessed with his tape since January.
