True, but it is a passing league
It does make me feel a little bit better that this seems to be who they wanted all along.

Some stuff that is still really terrifying me about Lance.

He has the least pass attempts of any QB drafted in the first round in something like the last 40 years. That little of pass attempts against FCS defenses. leaves a lot of questions

The accuracy issues. 44% accuracy rate past the line of scrimmage. lowest of anyone drafted in the first round since 2017.

Lastly, sometimes he shows a lack of touch on his passes. Not saying he cannot throw with touch but sometimes he threw the ball way harder than he needed to. Probably causing some of his accuracy issues TBH.

Obviously, his experience is not his fault. His accuracy could improve and I do think he more than likely learns with experience when to throw a rocket pass and when not to. Lance might be one of the biggest boom or bust candidates ever drafted this high. I would be lying if I didn't say this pick scares the hell out of me.

So Is this the guy Kyle wanted, or the guy Lynch wanted?

Seems like both but apparently Kyle has been obsessed with his tape since January.

Isnt Shanny the one who has final say in the draft?

Once again Kyle doesn't get his guy

I'm along for this long and bumpy ride. Not very optimistic.

That's factually incorrect. Kyle did get his guy. He even said to Lance - I'm sure you knew we were taking you - so he def gave him a hint that he really liked him.

You just got duped by the media in thinking that 49ers were interested in Mac Jones at 3.

Honestly I think Mahomes is still the biggest boom or bust QB to be drafted. Lance at least ran a pro style offense and his football IQ is on full display for anyone that talks to him. We never heard anyone talk about Mahomes being overly intelligent (even though he proved to be) even after he was drafted and after his year in the league as a backup. IMO, I don't think Lance's floor is as low as everyone is saying. He looks way more natural at position than most 1st round QBs in recent memory

* SI.com/Grant Cohn - A. "Kyle Shanahan sounded genuinely excited to coach Lance during Shanahan's press conference Thursday night," wrote Cohn. "Which is good to hear. Bill Walsh would want to coach a supremely gifted athlete like Lance. Shanahan should want to coach him, too. I applaud the 49ers for making such a bold pick."
To me, Lance looks better than Josh Allen coming out of college

Allen has a stronger arm. Lance has better legs.

Those are valid concerns. His maturity and willingness to work with different qb coaches show a lot of character and potential for improvement. I think that's a big part on what sold this kid to our fo.

I remember this story. It happened in 2011. It ended badly.

Hoping for a different ending this time.

Greg Roman ain't calling plays this time around

exactly! Worked well for Lamar Jackson for a year but teams are beginning to figure them out now. Lamar's 2nd year much worse than this first. By the way, its much easier to run now with QB sliding protection rules. We finally have a QB to exploit this with a genius play-caller (someone no one would call Greg Roman)

Totally agree. Maybe Kyle can take his offense to the next level. Wherever and whatever that is. I'm just really excited to see how creative Kyle can be.

If I'm not mistaken Lamar first year he replaced the qb at the end of the season. His second year he won the MVP of the league. Third year (last year) his lost both recovers for a while and the team traded one of their TE's which he used a lot away and he still put up decent # with no run game. So please explain to me why Lamar is bad again

We need to stop with the kaepernick and Lance comparisons. Just because he can run and is half black? Stop it. Lance plays more like Josh Allen. Lance played a pro style offense and is much more elusive. Kaepernick was straight line speed guy who has to gain a stride to take off. When I see Lance, I compare his pocket presence & mobility to Russell Wilson and his size & throwing talent to Josh Allen

Bigger Russell Wilson? I like it! The NFC west teams are going to be sweating once he's unleashed! Can't wait!

Yeah I think he has that same backyard football mentality as RW. He scrambles but always keeps his eyes downfield and finds a guy wide open, same as RW. Way harder than it seems but being composed while chased by 250+ lbs dudes & making an accurate pass (even if the dude is wide open) is hard, really hard! RW makes it look so easy and we think he is lucky, but it's a skill that only great QBs have.

I actually thought Manziel would do this well but unfortunately he wanted to party more than playing football. Such wasted talent. He could of been great

Lynch said - it was Shanahan who sent him a tape of Lance and said he was obsessed with him. So, ppl who think Kyle didn't get his QB - YOU ARE DEAD WRONG!!
