If he sits this year, that's a lot of sitting / minimal amount of meaningful football over the two years prior to Sept. 2022.
Him not starting and him not getting any game experience aren't mutually exclusive.

For about the first 30 minutes they talk Jimmy v Trey. They were at both of the padded practices. Some funny quotes about 20-25 mins in.

Ya preseason is when everything will be decided. If he looks better than Jimmy, he will be the starter.

Just found out today on locked on 49ers from a NDSU beat reporter that Boise State offered him a scholarship to be their QB the night he was signing with NDSU and he said no. He honored his commitment. Like that.
he also said he's watched Lance slinging it 60 yards from his knees to WRs in warmups. Said his arm is better than Wentz and he was a better college QB. Which is blasphemous to say in North Dakota.

How much experience is Trey going to get on the bench?
A lot actually.

Face it boys, the only way we riding the Trey train this year is Jimmy getting hurt. He ain't going anywhere.
However, based on the past injury history, the odds for Trey starting due to Jimmy getting hurt is pretty high

Not all of us in N.D.are Wentz fans, but the Boise St offer is correct.

I dont know how anyone can definitively say this. There have been 14 quarterbacks taken in the top 5 in the last decade, and not a single one of them sat the entire season.
In fact, nine of them started week one and only one of them started later than halfway through the season.

list those teams and their QB room. you'll see the Niners are in a unique situation not really comparable to past situations.

I agree this is uncharted territory, but if Lance is just better, and reports keep coming back day-after-day, at some point it's not even a decision.

I'm starting to think that if FCS had a season in 2020, and Trey got to play again, that he would have gone #2 after Lawrence.
