Not anytime soon. All I saw last night was a rookie hazing from the coach. Still fairly confident that Trey will perform well with the starting unit.

We have multiple problems. We allow too much pressure, especially up the middle. Our QBs (whoever is playing), appear to have some blinders in the middle of the field and we routinely throw into danger. With one exception, we saw Lance play the Jimmy-style offense. Shanahan routinely makes some bizarre judgment calls.

Our single biggest need is a starting RG, which we don't appear to have.

Shanahan must feel like a fool now.

(Since he clearly thought Jimmy was a problem or he wouldn't have spent 3 first rounders on Trey.)

A mixed bag. A couple of great throws. Two dropped INT. A fumble. A few sacks in which he wasn't able to use his legs to avoid them. And some inaccurate throws.

It's almost like he is a rookie who hasn't played in a year or something. Oh wait.

But a lot of you guys claimed he was the savior, would put Jimmy on the bench and lead us to a Superbowl. Why the backpedaling all of a sudden?

This is what I hate about the offseason

Cant he be both? He's a rookie and the savior of the franchise. 😱

You have a knack for narratives.

LOL. Hey, I wasn't the one who said a mobile QB transcends a poor OL.

Russ Wilson has always had poor OL protection. .. besides, that wasn't poor OL play yesterday, more like no OL play

LMAO. Where have you been the last 13 years, bud? What's funny is you guys think our OL play was an anomaly last night...it's just different names, same results. That's literally just an average and standard day in any SF game. 4 sacks, numerous instant hits and pressures.

I don't know about that. We've had some problems no doubt, but since they say games are won and lost In trenches and yet we still reached super bowl 2019.. could they have been that bad?

The pass protection in 2019 or even last year wasn't half as bad as what we saw with the second unit at times last night.

Not even close. Yesterday was shockingly bad, especially when they're protecting our franchise QB.

LOL.

You two HAVE to be trolling for fun.

Lol
Just Goes to show you who puts the blinders on and when.

also nice to see "some" common sense posts again after the first preseason game.. went from get rid of jimmy cause Trey can do the exact same things better then jimmy tooooo…. Well he's a rookie and he's got some work to do!!
lmafao!!

Yes, one being a 21 year old, and the other being nearly 30 with plenty of tape on who he is, is exactly the same thing.

I can't believe some are actually comparing an experienced veteran with a 21 yr old rookie.

They still refuse to believe Kyle wanted to upgrade the QB position. They must know more than Shanny..
I held my breath on this one. These high-low hits typically don't end well.

Yeah. Some nervous times watching him take some of those hits yesterday.

No lol yesterday's Ol performance wasn't even close to perform at the same standards as 2019. Trey Is also a rookie throwing the ball to a bunch of meh receivers whilst playing against the Chiefs first stringers.. I don't see how it's remotely the same tbh.

LOL. OK, they were rated 32 out of 32 in a pre season game instead of 26th for a full real season.

I like that he goes down at times. He needs to learn the Brady/Garoppolo-spin to help avoid those direct hits.

Haha. That's great. Several, welcome-to-the-NFL moments indeed. That's a good thing because you KNOW he's already studying and learning from them.

LMAO. Nope, they're still dying on that hill.
On the drop by aiyuk, are people ignoring lance got away from pressure and threw a strike for what should have been a big gain?

Seems like the "gotcha!" folks are expecting a 21 year old rookie to be a finished product in his first preseason game

I don't get how that wasn't roughing. They both hit Trey late. The guy in the back is more inadvertent, but the guy in front launches himself into Trey after the ball has already left his hand.

You got me thinking. Kyle's seen this before and adjusted to a mere negative passing game to compensate. Lots of fly sweeps, WR screens behind the LOS, etc. We saw some of that last night esp. with Jennings.

So if the starting unit isn't looking too hot either, I wonder how much the pass protection will factor into if/when Kyle will start Lance. Because the flip side is with Lance, he has more move-the-pocket options, rollouts, keepers, etc.
