Random is a gold medalist

Wins matter the most I hear so I'll take the gold.

And there wouldn't be the need to discredit so much if people didn't do all types of hurdles and dismounts to overcredit him. I mean Elway and Kurt Warner? Constantly quoting W/L records giving him credit for strong defenses and Kyle's zone run scheme,...without even 3 seasons' worth of wins? Lol c'mon. Not letting you lie about what's what doesn't mean I hate the player.

If you were really so sure and confident in him you wouldn't feel the need to bring mention of these pseudo-accolades to Trey's thread.

Calm down there sport.

I think they rest him another week just to make sure it's all the way healed.

I really think that's the smart thing to do. I want him 100% before he's thrown back in.

Ah. Not in the pfr stats. Where can you find that?

No pics though. Do you find that interesting? Same guy different system.

Game log vs cards.

Jimmy is very careless with the football. Many of his most costly fumbles came on sacks. He doesn't protect the ball. And his ints are usually brutal to where he just didn't see a player standing right there

And once more, for the record. How many games have Jimmy's turnovers actually cost the team. He only has 8 regular season losses so why don't you go back and review all of those games and let us know how many of those losses were a DIRECT result of a turnover by Jimmy. If you're not willing to put in the work to prove your point then you should quit making the argument and trying to pass it ff as some kind of fact that Jimmy's turnover's lead to losses.

Here, I'll even give you a couple examples to start you off. The first Seattle Game in 2019 there was a strip sack for a TD in the first half. Jimmy led the team down the field at the end of the 4th quarter and put the team in a position to win but their replacement kicker shanked a kick from the same distance he had made one from earlier. Against the Steelers that same year the team had FIVE turnovers but still won the game. Turnovers suck and Jimmy has certainly had his share but he usually finds a way to overcome them. Hopefully he will be better at protecting the ball this year.

Let's move the Jimmy specific talk to his thread.
Trey should be fine after minor finger injury, he definitely needs to be QB2 for first game so i expect him to get reps at some point next week. Because god forbid jimmy gets injured, we will lose with sudfield.
When the 49ers had their starters in, Lance got a lot of snaps in the red zone where he'll presumably get most of his usage early in the season. In the 49ers' NFC title season with a healthy Jimmy Garoppolo, the 49ers ranked 20th in touchdown scoring percentage in the red zone. Lance's ability to be a power runner should bolster the red zone offense — an area in which Garoppolo hasn't played well.

Everyone here should be rooting for Trey to earn the starting spot sooner rather than later. And it has nothing to do with knocking Jimmy.

Trey's very presence on this Shanahan offense heightens its ceiling by leaps and bounds because of the threat he poses to defenses as a potential ball carrier every snap. We can play 11 on 11 football in the run game with Trey in a way that we simply can't with Jimmy. You simply cannot discount how important an advantage this is for Kyle and McDaniels as playcallers.

This is the reality whether you like Jimmy (like I do) or not. Its not a knock against him or his abilities. Its an endorsement of what extra advantages Trey brings to our offense. So, the moment it appears Trey looks comfortable facing NFL defenses is the moment he should be given the starting nod.

Hear hear

There were people back in the golden era that wanted Young over Montana for that same reason. It wasn't that they felt Joe wasn't good. They just say the added dimension that Young gave the team. I know there are going to be some people that say but Joe won 4 SBs and Steve only 1. That's true but it wasn't the same team by the time Young took over. Some of the players on the Niners had moved on, especially on defense and the Cowboys had become a real force. Without the Cowboys in their way, Young may hav eled the Niners to at least 2 more SBs. Plus he didn't have Walsh.

I already gave examples previously (Seahawks and Ravens games). I would also argue that is "eyes closed" pick in the sb put us in a really bad spot. "But his turnovers haven't cost us too badly yet!" isn't a great defense
And I understand QBs are going to turn the ball over. I don't expect perfection from Jimmy but a lot of his fumbles & picks are just really really bad. I can live with a 50/50 deep ball pick. Not so much on the "hey a lb is just standing there are you threw it right to him" or being careless with the ball on a strip sack

That LB pick only happened twice , feels like more but only 2 times

strip sacks is on the OL. No way to secure a ball when you need to throw it

Suppose Lance struggles, does Kyle allow Lance to experience the growing pains and learn from it (Lance development), or would Kyle reduce Lance's snaps and allow Jimmy to lead the team (2021 success).

By rotating the QBs, we get to see exactly how Lance is progressing week by week. If he struggles, dial his snaps back. If he ascends, awesome.

Kyle benches Trey.

If both Jimmy and Trey are struggling, he might still bench Trey to see how Jimmy handles it... if Jimmy still struggles, then Kyle puts in Trey for the remainder of the season.

I think it would be the opposite if both Jimmy and Trey is struggling. Why would he want to see how Jimmy handles it? He isn't the future, Trey is.
