oh look Jimmy ranks behind Mahomes

49ersRing needs to make up a string of very specific b******t qualifiers in attempt to s**t on Jimmy. this is what the He-Man Jimmy Haterz Club does constantly.

if you sort on fumbles lost, he is third from the bottom (which is GOOD not BAD).

That's like saying having the third most dropped interceptions is good.

It is good.

He's had the 2nd fewest snaps of anyone on that list. It doesn't make sense to compare totals over a 3 or 4 year period when he's only played in 5,3,16, and 6 games during that time.
I guess a good way to determine would be dividing the players games played with fumbles and what percentage is.

Where are we going with this. Everybody knows Jimmy makes too many DUMB THROWS. And he gets the ball whacked out midget fingers TOO MUCH.

Point is there's some good stuff too, and it all comes out as he is somewhat better than average. If he stopped throwing into linebacker chest he would be pretty good.

Still a better choice than trey right now and probably for the rest of the year.

Because when it comes to Jimmy, I've got sour news for ya jack....

But, if Jimmy somehow found a way to fixed this problem, he'd be a pretty damn good QB. Maybe 2017 Alex Smith level.

It is good, though.

Are we trying to figure out who is the luckiest QB or who is the best QB?

He's the best quarterback. At being lucky.

100%! Jimmy has a lot of great things he does: great quick release, actually CAN make plays outside the pocket (not elite level but he does), maybe the best in the biz with Brady on QB sneaks (learned from Brady), seems unphazed by a bad play, sells PA well, pretty good in the short game.

If Jimmy was able to cut out the bad plays & sprinkle in some deep/outside quality throws he'd be elite

I guess a good way to determine would be dividing the players games played with fumbles and what percentage is.

That's essentially what this is:

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask?q=most+qb+fumbles+%2A+100+per+%28passing+attempt+%2B+rushing+attempt%29+2017+to+2020+with+more+than+250+passing+attempts

Which shows the percentage of passing attempts + rushing attempts that resulted in a fumble for QBs with at least 250 attempts during that time.

Here is the same list with interception % added in to get the total turnover rate:

https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask?q=most+qb+fumbles+lost+%2A+100+per+%28passing+attempt+%2B+rushing+attempt%29+%2B+int%25+2017+to+2020+with+more+than+250+passing+attempts

Jimmy is actually 21st on the list with 250 attempts being the limit, but you'll notice that Jimmy Garoppolo, Daniel Jones, and Baker Mayfield are the only three on it that either aren't backups and haven't been replaced, changed teams, or otherwise lost their jobs. The list is automatically limited to the 30 highest.

I need some Trey fingy news.
with trey rotating in regularly, it decreases jimmy G injury risk (less snaps less chance to get injured) as well as Trey's own injury risk. most of this switching will just be misdirection for running the ball anyways but once defense commits to the run, we have trey launch a bomb or Jimmy G hits a wide open intermediate pass. who cares if it hasn't been done before, there is a first for everything. all QBs tend to break down by the end of the year and this will help preserve both QBs throughout the season as well as during games.

shanagenius at next level with this s**t

Trey's very presence on this Shanahan offense heightens its ceiling by leaps and bounds because of the threat he poses to defenses as a potential ball carrier every snap. We can play 11 on 11 football in the run game with Trey in a way that we simply can't with Jimmy. You simply cannot discount how important an advantage this is for Kyle and McDaniels as playcallers.

This is the reality whether you like Jimmy (like I do) or not. Its not a knock against him or his abilities. Its an endorsement of what extra advantages Trey brings to our offense. So, the moment it appears Trey looks comfortable facing NFL defenses is the moment he should be given the starting nod.

Agreed and I think he gets to that point sooner than some people think. A fully unlocked Shanny offense is going to be a glorious sight to behold.

if we selected trey for his running abilities that will be one of the greatest follies of all time. no way we did.

I would agree, but to me he's just too raw.

He's got to get better with his accuracy, but I think he's ready to be the starter - finger pending.

Yeah, he definitely needs to work on his consistency but I believe that will come with playing experiance. I feel like his inconsistancies with ball placement and lack of touch on some throws are from not being completely comfortable with what he's seeing out there. Once he's fully comfortable with the playbook and the speed of the NFL game I don't think the sky balls and up close heaters will be much of an issue.
