I don't care what anyone looks like, especially at a themed benefit party. We need football bad in here lll

Lol seriously. IDGAF if they were all wearing just banana hammocks. As long as theyre not out committing crimes, live your life play boy. Just give it youre all on game day.

Is Shanny going to give an official update on Trey's finger?

Just heard from a friend of a brother's sister's cousin's uncle that it's still attached!

Lol, where are they, in Miami?

Sunglasses at night?

yeah, f**k this guy. Can't believe we drafted him

You claim other people hate Jimmy G to cover up your real hate for Lance? Makes sense now.

Wrong again. I defended Lance when posters complained about his gold chain and the overreactions over preseason games.

Gold chain = good
Sun glasses = bad

Where do you stand on crocs?

Gotta love the selective hearing(or seeing in this case) on this forum regardless of the topic . I don't have a problem with sunglasses, but wearing SUNglasses at night makes the person look retarded as hell unless their names are Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp.

But to answer your question about Crocs, I don't trust anyone who wears those abominations

What about Trent and Kittle are they idiots as well (I don't use the R word)

or about half the team for that matter..it was a 60s themed party and a lot of them were wearing sunglasses…so stupid

That's funny…iDGAF how they look, because these two ALWAYS look great to me. They can look any way they want because come game day, these two put it all out there and don't leave anything on the field.

Honestly, those guys have the swagger to get away with wearing whatever they want, me not so much.

But, if Jimmy somehow found a way to fixed this problem, he'd be a pretty damn good QB. Maybe 2017 Alex Smith level.

100%! Jimmy has a lot of great things he does: great quick release, actually CAN make plays outside the pocket (not elite level but he does), maybe the best in the biz with Brady on QB sneaks (learned from Brady), seems unphazed by a bad play, sells PA well, pretty good in the short game.

If Jimmy was able to cut out the bad plays & sprinkle in some deep/outside quality throws he'd be elite

Elite as someone without an elite arm could possibly be anyway. Not quite Brees level, due to accuracy and defense reading. But very good for sure.

Man this team is so good that people are complaining about a QB wearing sunshades to a benefit event. I'll take that all day, guys. Especially over this:

agreed

Everyone here should be rooting for Trey to earn the starting spot sooner rather than later. And it has nothing to do with knocking Jimmy.

Trey's very presence on this Shanahan offense heightens its ceiling by leaps and bounds because of the threat he poses to defenses as a potential ball carrier every snap. We can play 11 on 11 football in the run game with Trey in a way that we simply can't with Jimmy. You simply cannot discount how important an advantage this is for Kyle and McDaniels as playcallers.

This is the reality whether you like Jimmy (like I do) or not. Its not a knock against him or his abilities. Its an endorsement of what extra advantages Trey brings to our offense. So, the moment it appears Trey looks comfortable facing NFL defenses is the moment he should be given the starting nod.

Agreed and I think he gets to that point sooner than some people think. A fully unlocked Shanny offense is going to be a glorious sight to behold.

if we selected trey for his running abilities that will be one of the greatest follies of all time. no way we did.

Maybe for his rookie season. But clearly going forward as he develops, he was chosen for that rocket arm.

I do and never said fumbling isn't something we should avoid. I'm pointing out it's incredibly misleading to just throw a stat like that out with no other context. Makes it seem like he's fumbling every other time he gets hit.

That's why I posted other qb's #'s. Go look them up for yourself.

The top 20 guys with the most career fumbles are all quarterbacks. 5 of which are HOF and a number of future HOF.

Just throwing a stat like that and then talking about a RB benched for fumbles is disingenuous.

I edited but you replied before you saw it.

The other QB #s you posted I didnt understand and still dont. Jimmy fumbles more than all of them (aside from being fractions of a percent better than Watson, who fumbles at a much lower rate when factoring in attempts).

If you think me talking about RBs being benched for fumbles is disingenuous, then you were simply way too quick to come to Jimmy's defense because you COMPLETELY misunderstood the point of why I even brought it up. I brought it up because a couple posters essentially believe that as long as the 49ers recovered the ball, the fumbles should be ignored. Fumble recoveries (as I am sure you know) are largely due to luck. Just because we recovered a majority of them, doesnt mean the fumbling isnt a problem....which, again, is why I mentioned RBs being benched for fumbling regardless of who recovered.

My point is that talking about RB's getting benched for fumbling is similar to a qb getting credited for fumbles is disingenuous.

It's not a qualitative stat. It'd be like someone talking about Trey's comp % in pre-season without mentioning all the drops. It's misleading and disingenuous.

It's also why I was responding to French. He's said its crazy that people would brush off 17 fumbles in 30 games(really 32). Watson has 30 in 54 and I've never heard anyone talk about Watson having a fumbling problem.

It's because everyone understands that's a stat that doesn't mean much considering that many fumbles credited are not actually fumbles.

Kurt Warner has 104 fumbles in 124 career games. He's in the HOF and I've never heard of Warner having a fumbling problem.

Must've been so crazy how during all those HOF seasons no one was worried about his fumbles.

Still missing the point with the first bolded.

You must not have paid attention with the second bolded. Warner was criticized his entire career about being loose with the ball and fumbling too much.

Again, you are totally missing the point in this discussion. No one is being disingenious. You are just not happy with the content of what is being discussed. Jimmy turns the ball over too much (interceptions and fumbling the ball). Not sure how any unbiased person would go to such lengths to disagree with that. He does. We just have to hope our defense is good enough to combat that.

Or that Jimmy improves something he's never improved upon yet. It's not impossible, because some of his interceptions are due to inaccuracy, and some of those interceptions AND fumbles are due to misdiagnosing coverage (for fumbles, holding the ball when he should have thrown it). These things can possibly be improved.

Some of those turnovers happened due to the turnstile play of our offensive line. Improved line play will help improve quarterback play, no matter who is the quarterback.

True, and it could improve Jimmy's confidence so he gets back to being a gunslinger (he'll still throw the picks, but at least he'll stop hesitating and throwing late).
60s theme? Why was he wearing those glasses? At least kittle and Trent were on point.

I just hope Trey stays healthy, with all the wild cat plays they're going to feature.

What don't you get?

He's a QB what wild cat stuff are you talking about lol? You mean zone reads.

Yeah, I mean zone reads.

See, I don't see this helping trey or the 49ers.

Wanna give trey read option reps? Designed bootlegs?

Then we traded up to get Kap 2.0. No thank you.

This guy needs to call the entire route tree in game situations. Problem is, he can't do it right now. so we can't win games if he tried.

oh well. Why is that a surprise? we knew that coming out of the draft.

He needs to hold a clipboard, go to kyle shanahans uber elite quarterback school every day and watch tape tape tape.

When he goes into a game -- which will probably be several games this year due to jimmy g getting dinged up -- he needs to run THE. ENTIRE. PLAYBOOK.

No pigeon holing this kid at 21. THAT will move him forward.

Don't bother with this shuttling 2 qb system which is a joke and will guarantee to ruin both qb's if you think about how it will actually play out snap after snap.

The NFL press is desperate for carnival headlines but they are making horrifying proposals, if you actually read what they are visualizing. Kyle is smarter than the NFL press and will not implement that silliness.

Did you watch the preseason my man? Trey was running some zone read stuff, but he was also running what Jimmy was running. And the beat writers say he's been doing that all off-season. If Kyle uses him on Taysom Hill stuff, he'll also come in and do some drop back passing to kee defenses completely unsure.

^^ Very confident in that prediction.

Take away his favorite reads? Huh?

The whole get game film on someone thing is a myth. How much film is there with Tom Brady? Rodgers? Mahomes?

if that was an actual thing then you would never see a QB improve or play well consistently as their career moves forward. That only applies to bad QBs who don't work to improve. And for those guys it's not as much that defenses adjust to them, it's that they adjust to the scheme or players around those guys get worse so they can't just do what they want to do and you can't stop them.

I keep saying this but Trey Lance is in a situation that isn't comparable to anyone else. So having him replicate the plan for say Mahomes or Kyler Murray isn't right or wrong. He's in a different spot so nobody knows what the best route is.

Im going to trust Shanahan who basically put his nuts on the table and said...I'm hinging my job on this kid's back. He's not going to hurt the team or Trey's development if he can help it.

Yes, nobody knows how a player will react to actual NFL games or pressure but we have glimpses of it through 3 preseason games. It showed a kid who isn't overwhelmed by the jump in competition but it shows a kid who isn't going to be a seasoned nfl pro like as a rookie. He's got things to work on, some of them being very critical so people have to have proper expectations. There will be bad mistakes. There will be bad throws but you have to trust the person long term.

Everyone who has met the kid raves about his work ethic, intelligence and drive to improve. Unlike say Kap who seemed to ignore key areas of improving as a QB(I still think Harbaugh changed him in that regard) Trey SHOULD be able to stay ahead of the competition. Especially when you have Kyle Shanahan in your corner. One thing you need though is game reps. So imo you have to get him on the field to grow quicker. I trust Kyle to do that without hurting the team or Trey's future.

That's so incredibly wrong. I cant believe you wrote that.

Game film is the single most important factor in professional competiton.

In every major sport not just football.

Every team blows hundreds of man hours every weekly microcycle analyzing game film from their own team and opponents.

The microscope doesn't get any more micro.

All the more reason to force teams to watch tape on two QBs. Six or seven good plays per game, and a lot more if we have a couple score lead late, will do the trick.
