They need to take a very hard look on how they evaluate RB'.s

Agreed, message sent. In no way is he done, but he's going to need to come in and work hard. Some guys need a little extra motivation. The team putting you on notice is a good way to do that. With the way this offense chews up rb's we need all the good rb's we can get.

A message?! It's a stupid f**king message. If things work right, we will be 3 deep at running back, 2 of whom are relatively high draft picks in a system where we can produce with literally ANYONE.

It's a stupid pick, even stupider if it's for motivational purposes. We are not a perfect franchise and we have plenty of holes. How about addressing that before making luxury picks.

Reminds me of when we had that good year with Harbaugh with a talented roster, and instead of continuing to draft areas of needs, we drafted head cases and guys with injury problems because we had that luxury. But the truth is that there is no luxury in this league. Every draft and roster move needs to be calculated and treated with urgency.

I think Wilson or Hasty are the odd men out.
Sermon has size and power and decent hands. The learning curve was steep for him.

Sounds like the position in general is a crapshoot. Our stars have been late round or FA picks. The whole league de values them because they just don't have long careers, except for our guy Frank the tank.
Luckily it's rare for a team to spend a 1st on even the best college backs now.
What we need to focus our evaluations on are the O line men.

I'm with you guys. He certainly may never amount to anything but he could also become just the latest guy to get completely written off by most of our fans and go on to shut some people up and I know which outcome I'm rooting for
He's a lock. 3rd rounder will be given every opportunity to prove the FO right.

This. There is no way he doesnt make the team in year 2.

Yep, he's a lock along with Mitchell, & Davis-Price, I'd put Wilson too, due to the GTD money he got, but his spot is more soft lock.
Sermon is fine. He will rebound. Remember he got busted up went down awkward his first carry. Just not his year but that happens sometimes. It's a short season. He may even emerge as a lead back this year.

I think he is going to surprise the fan base. He took most of the year at OSU to figure out how he fit in the offense. Once he did, he carried the team. People writing him off are being too hasty.

Agree, too soon to declare him a bust. He has talent, and if he can pick up the offense, watch out. Kyle is going to play a lot of bully ball. He already is a wonderful pass reciever- which (i think) many times is more important in Kyle's offense than running the ball. I'm pulling for him to break into the starting line-up.
I don't understand why this fanbase gives up on rookies after 1 year.
