I actually on the Sermon's side.. I think Price was a stupid and wasted pick... he'll be like Kevan Barlow all over again.. KS10 will give him more chances than he should just to justify the pick.

I think its because he was a 3rd rounder and our 4th rounder beat him for the starting job
Mitchell was a 6th
Case and point, then we use another 3rd on a running back. I haven't gave up on Sermon but it does raise an eyebrow.
Think drafting bruiser backs in the higher round in consecutive drafts shows Shanahan is prioritizing implementing a power run game, which i love. Gets back to some 49er roots and might best complement Trey Lance's play style
Agree, but I'd also add that because Kyle's now had 0-2 record in the fourth quarter in playoff games where his run game failed late in the game. I think that's a factor in him drafting bigger and more powerful running backs recently.

Give TDP a chance. I have it on good authority that tackling TDP is like tackling a bowling ball made up of rusty steak knives. He knows the grind of an SEC schedule. NFL should be a cakewalk.

In defense of our RBs and run blocking, when a defense is sold out to stop the run and there is no threat of a pass, that will happen. We do need RBs that can get yards when we need yards, but the passing game has to be respected.

To put it simply, he has to fight for playing time and whatever role he can earn. Best case scenario (for him) IMO is he works his way into a near-even split with Mitchell and becomes trusted on 3rd downs too.
edit: not that I think Mitchell, Wilson or Davis-Price will be beaten out for playing time so easily. Sermon has more direct competition / range of outcomes for his role than almost anyone else on the team. He could earn his way into the rotation or he could be off the team

Lets hope that Sermon or Price can at least be good enough to beat out Wilson and be Mitch's backup...
