We have too many picks, they wouldn't make the team.

Not a fan of this argument. So our coaches are really good at coaching up RBs and identifying what fits their system, that means you should trust them *more* regarding value at this pick not continue to expect them to turn straw into gold.
He looks like he runs upright

As do all great zone runners. You can't sprint to full speed staying low.

Honestly surprised that Shanahan picked him. Feels like he lacks that top end speed that he's obsessed with.

But I loved frank gore's slithery smooth low running style

I wonder if he reminds Shanny of a guy he worked with in 2009 who was the greatest wide zone runner I've ever seen and wasn't a speed demon

We have 2 players in our secondary signed to the roster next season.
deebo has had trouble staying healthy,
hurd hasn't taken a snap for this team
Richie James jr is only signed for one more year.

A third round receiver can easily make this roster unless you expect Hurd to suddenly be healthy, and/or river Cracraft to be a good 4th receiver option.

also our te's behind Kittle haven't done s**t to be handed the second te spot.

More important/valuable positions, that have questionable depth/long term starting. A third runningback isn't valuable considering this team/systems history at finding and developing late round talent.

Considering this systems history of developing talent at rb in later rounds, it is a good argument. Guys we spent the most capital on(in terms of either draft picks, or contracts) jerrick McKinnon, tevin Coleman, and joe Williams. Would you say any of these guys were considered the best back on our team? No, It was either Breida, Raheem, or Wilson. If you can consistently get good production from this position without spending any capital on it, Then team should leverage that to spend resources on other positions. Especially considering rb is maybe the least valuable position outside of fullback. Oline play is a much bigger factor when it comes to a running game.
Broke the record for the most rushing yards for a single game in Ohio State history with 331 yards. More impressive, He did it against a great defense in Northwestern. Even more impressive, the people who are # 2 and #3 on that list. Eddie George And Ezekiel Elliott. Pretty damn impressive. here is the video of the game.

He's more quick then fast has a good 10 yard burst.
I think with the extra game and the past injuries this was a good move especially if we make it into the playoffs.

This. I had a feeling we would draft a RB high with the reports about us talking to N. Harris.

We don't have many rosters spots and Sermon adds a power element to our offense and a RB that we will have on a low contract for 4 years. We needed help in short yardage and I think between him and Lance we'll be vastly improved.

It's not incredible value but I love the fit and the player.
Sermon has a chance to be scary in this O when him and Lance become starters in the near future. He'll get his touches as a rookie, but I see him blowing up next year when Lance takes over and Mostert is most likely too expensive to keep around.

I see many saying "but secondary!" forgetting that you need to go BPA. You don't just draft a DB just because you might need one. I rather us sign a vet FA than reach for someone who isn't close to Sermon on our board.
He is NOT an Ohio St. QB.....so, I like it.
