Don't even do it to yourself...it was a bad pick and they just gotta move on.

Yup. Pure torture.

Trade?

Lol… more like cut
Who is more likely to make the practice squad if cut, Sermon or Mason?

Kyle doesn't care about RBs (who starts), like his dad, and we have a starter and a backup already. If sermon is on the 53 he will have a chance if Mitchell and Wilson is injured, if not who ever else will replace who isn't up to par to get the job done to win games, next man up RB.

Jordan Mason has been playing against 3rd and 4th stringers, it remains to be seen if he is good enough to play against NFL starters and produce, this happens every preseason on every team, Kyle would know, and if he is, he will be on the 53. IMO Hasty is still the most limited useful back on the team right now, although he has more experience than TDP and Mason, he lack the size and isn't a every down back. Would you keep someone like that again on the 53 over someone else like Sermon or Mason is the question coming up in 10 days.. at this point, they're looking at if a player is going to help the team in any way to get to the SB and win it or is more useful for the long haul and future to keep, if not what's the point of keeping them? Hasty was on the team last year, did he help the 9ers win the NFCC? Not really.. Hasty had 3 targets and 1 catch for 6 yards and no rushes in the NFCC last year, useless really, has he imporved much, probably not, you can say the same about Semon but who is going to be the every down back if Mitchell and Wilson are injured? Sermon TDP or Mason if kept on 53? Definitely not Hasty LOL, because he's not a every down back and not even a great 3rd down back at that..

he is lucky wilson is hurt or is not playing for whatever reason... or he would be cut already in my opinion.. he last about two series and did nothing vs the vikings.. i have been told kyle and lynch are not afraid to admit they made mistakes.. well lets see them do it with this guy

Seriously … lamenting over bad draft picks is a waste of time and energy. And it's glass half empty thinking. Makes you feel better to concentrate on all the late round hits they have had.

They made up for the drafting of Sermon with the Mason signing.

Mason.

That is who I was thinking also.

What is going on with Wilson? He was excused frum the packers game because of personal reasons but why did he miss the vikings game?
Sermon hasn't been impressive since the Niners drafted him. Is he just another OSU back that looked great because they were running behind a dominant O line? They have a history of great RBs in college that were average or worse in the NFL.

The only thing i can think of is a failed drug test.

As for Sermon, if not for him being dinged last year- Kyle would never have played Elijah, and found out how good he was. My hope is he makes the decision to keep Mason and let Sermon go.

PS I hope Wilson comes back quick, that RB depth is going to critical in a 21 game season.
People down on Sermon but from most accounts he's looked good in camp. His blocking hasn't been ideal and he was playing with an injury in this one. Mason was impressive but was going up against 3rd stringers. Swap them around and it may equalize some.

If I'm the 49ers I'm keeping Sermon and Mason and looking to move Wilson or Hasty. Neither guy has a track record of staying healthy and while Wilson had a damn good season when he was healthy in 2020 it's not like either guy is a stud when healthy. Both also are free agents at the end of this season. Sermon under contract for 2 more years after. Have to look at roster building and keeping cheap players under contract. Are Hasty and Wilson that much better than Sermon? I'm not sure of that.

Yeah, but Mason hits the hole and runs hard. Sermon dances around too much.

If he's really looking good in camp then they'll find a way to keep him. He just hasn't shown a lot in games. Maybe he's not a good fit for Kyle's running game at this point. I trust Kyle and the RB coach to make the right decision.
