Who is more likely to make the practice squad if cut, Sermon or Mason?

Mason.

That is who I was thinking also.

What is going on with Wilson? He was excused frum the packers game because of personal reasons but why did he miss the vikings game?

The only thing i can think of is a failed drug test.

As for Sermon, if not for him being dinged last year- Kyle would never have played Elijah, and found out how good he was. My hope is he makes the decision to keep Mason and let Sermon go.

PS I hope Wilson comes back quick, that RB depth is going to critical in a 21 game season.

That's the only thing you can think of? It could just be a family matter.

I dunno, i got the feeling that he was absent for more than a couple of days now, for some reason. If it was a family matter- maybe a day or two? Ok. But if its more than a couple of days- i get worried it could be something worse.

More often than not it's just a personal matter. Trent Williams had an excused absence earlier in camp as well.

Trade?

Lol… more like cut

Kyle doesn't care about RBs (who starts), like his dad, and we have a starter and a backup already. If sermon is on the 53 he will have a chance if Mitchell and Wilson is injured, if not who ever else will replace who isn't up to par to get the job done to win games, next man up RB.

Jordan Mason has been playing against 3rd and 4th stringers, it remains to be seen if he is good enough to play against NFL starters and produce, this happens every preseason on every team, Kyle would know, and if he is, he will be on the 53. IMO Hasty is still the most limited useful back on the team right now, although he has more experience than TDP and Mason, he lack the size and isn't a every down back. Would you keep someone like that again on the 53 over someone else like Sermon or Mason is the question coming up in 10 days.. at this point, they're looking at if a player is going to help the team in any way to get to the SB and win it or is more useful for the long haul and future to keep, if not what's the point of keeping them? Hasty was on the team last year, did he help the 9ers win the NFCC? Not really.. Hasty had 3 targets and 1 catch for 6 yards and no rushes in the NFCC last year, useless really, has he imporved much, probably not, you can say the same about Semon but who is going to be the every down back if Mitchell and Wilson are injured? Sermon TDP or Mason if kept on 53? Definitely not Hasty LOL, because he's not a every down back and not even a great 3rd down back at that..

I see room for 4 players

Mitchell
Wilson
Hasty
TDP

PS - Mason

There is no room for Sermon

What's the fascination with Hasty?
cuz he has produced unlike sermon and actually wilson right now

No way is Hasty better than Mason.

mitchell. wilson. hasty and mason should stay

You don't like TDP?

i like him to. lol. good problems.. its just a crime against humanity if sermon is given a spot

I'm betting they IR him if ShanaLynch wants to keep him (he reportedly does have an ankle injury). Personally, i think Mason has won a spot and - like you said - its not right to keep Sermon and risk Mason for ego's sake. Hope ShanaLynch makes the correct decison here.

I agree, Giedi - can't risk losing Mason for ego's sake.

Does Mayo's body part have any predictions on what happens to Purdy and Mason?

I remember people not understanding the Elijah Mitchell pick because we already drafted Sermon.

If you are constantly missing on draft picks that's one thing - but no team bats anywhere near 1.000 so I don't understand the logic behind 'we could have had so and so. Every team could do that.

You're correct but no one likes the Sermon pick when it was made because it's a position we had success in the later rounds and undrafted rookies.

Personally, my favorite *what if* is - what if Seifert didn't trade Haley? I wonder how many more super bowls we would have had.

I didn't haven't a problem with them picking a rb, I had a problem with the rb they selected

I think that's the majority opinion.

Definitely was the majority

Also problematic to give up the picks to go get him. Does seem like Lynch and Shanahan get blinders on for certain players and do what they need to do to get them. Need to let the draft come to them a bit more. This year they did a much better job so hopefully they are learning.

That is my take as well.

He has looked good on occasion but then he misses reads or makes the wrong choice on others. He just is not as consistent as he should be this far into his career. At this point, Mason looks like the better power runner and too good to risk on the Practice Squad. He makes my 53 and Sermon absorbs the risk.
I'm so sure that Trey Sermon becomes the new Tevin Coleman... A guy who was solid for us and probably did everything the coaching staff wanted, but he never really did anything "splashy" and we always preferred a different back out there.

coleman did at least some good things for us and was huge in winning a playoff game... sermon is not even solid in the least in my opinion.. he acts scared when he runs. wtf.. no , he needs to go.. openmindexcuses not withstanding and i could care less where he was drafted at excuses as well

if Sermon became the new Tevin Coleman, there wouldnt be debates about if he deserves to be cut or not. Coleman was much better than this fanbase gives him credit for.

Yes. Coleman was pretty fast and could hit the hole like a porn star.

If he turns out to be the Atlanta version of Tevin Coleman, we will all be happy. Gotta see it first though.

Very Nice! Always trust Mayo's groundhog body part!
