I see many saying "but secondary!" forgetting that you need to go BPA. You don't just draft a DB just because you might need one. I rather us sign a vet FA than reach for someone who isn't close to Sermon on our board.

That sounds great, until you are starting your 5th and 6th corners and some guy you picked up off the street yesterday. Like we did last season. It should always be BPA while looking at need groups first. As far as vet FA, there isn't a whole lot left out there right now. And we don't have a lot of money left to spend.

He's perfect for our RB rotation. I wouldn't want him carrying the load with his injury history but he could be special here.
Elite change of direction and short area agility. Also has elite balance and great power. Honestly the only negative I see on this guy is a lack of elite top-end speed, which doesn't bother me. Some highlights of his I thought I was watching Frank Gore. Other highlights he looked like Alvin Kamara, and then on other highlights he looked like Arian Foster.

Stud.
The pick caught me a little off-guard, but the more you look at what he's done, you have to be excited to have him join our backfield. BL is neither Mostert nor Wilson are signed beyond this season. Neither is Gallman...I just think as a group, they'll be tough to stop. All can really run, catch and block. At least I think Sermon can block...it'd be odd to be a feature RB on Ohio St and not be able to block.

No one really carries the load unless you have the hot hand like Mostert did around the Baltimore game and on. If you're averaging 5 plus Kyle will run you tho
This pick makes a lot of sense if you are looking to maintain a long window. With no RBs signed beyond this season, rather than having to invest a lot of money in Mostert and whoever else, this guy will be on a rookie contract for the next four years. Like with Trey Lance when JG is traded, the cap saving in those two guys on rookie contracts will allow the team to resign other stars and key starters.

Building long-term is happening now.
We filled a lot of injury holes this draft. Hope he is better than Carlos Hyde, another OSU RB.

This is probably the one pick I'm most excited to see this upcoming season!!!

This guy has some amazing balance and power.
Yo this kid looked really good. I think he lasted one play against us.

This is wrong. RB is extremely important and very valuable position. Are Derrick Henry or Frank Gore valuable? RB are undervalued only because you can find decent small RB's later in the draft, but it's hard to find great big power backs.

A great RB has great value in both running and passing game:
* Gets 10-20+ touches per game = lots of chances to excel
* Pound down / beat down and tire out the defense with a big power back like Sermon
* More 1st downs and more time of possession
* Power gap running game sets up the change of pace outside zone running and also the passing game
* Imp. Pass receiving role
* Better pass protection with a big power back like Sermon

I know you're being a smartass and all, but he did have 193 yards vs. Clemson. You're right the kid did look good.

Mostert, Gallman and Sermon will be a wrecking crew!!! I'm pretty sure Shanahan will mix it up so Sermon stays fresh!!!
What number will he wear in SF? He obviously cant wear #8. Maybe #4?
