What other rb's are ppl making o line excuses about?
A ton of hate for a guy who has hurt a lot last year and didn't get many opportunities once Mitchell shined.

Kyle is pretty much a straight shooter from what I've seen over the years. If he is saying they see improvement etc why think otherwise?

This guy must be a practice hero because we definitely don't see sh!t in games that he played.

Literally steps sideways before contact. Pettis with muscles

and it has nothing to do with a bad offensive line like some claim... got no issues with the decisions yesterday. loved purdy but this one.. well.. i just do not know.... he has done nothing and earned or deserved nothing

Irrelevant article from years ago. Joe Williams never made the team, Sermon did.

You make a point, but we chose him over hasty who was picked up. Williams was not etc. Lets see. I hope he does well. His teammates also speak well of him which counts for something.

And even if the team cut Sermon, I doubt Hasty would make the team. We would probably have kept 4 RBs on the 53.

There is really no point in being upset losing a fringe player like Hasty.
Let's see if he has a week 1 role, do we know if Eli is fit?

He came back to practice. Suggests he is.

Good to hear. With Eli.. like Mostert.. you don't want him touching the ball 20+ each week.. he won't last imo. Maybe give him 10-15.. meaning either TDP or Sermon or both will have a role.
Was watching something with Larry(?) Krueger and that kid Vish something or other where they were talking about the initial 53 man roster. When they got around to the decision to keep Sermon over Hasty, Vish had a really interesting comment. In his opinion Sermon is the best back on the team, which certainly seems like a counter intuitive take based on his performance during pre-season. He went on to defend his position by saying that Sermon had learned a different skill set when he was in college which was to be patient, read the blocks in front of him and then use his speed to "make himself small" and get through the hole. He said he showed really quick feet for a guy his size and had speed and power as well. Now that he is on the 49ers he is being asked to make one cut and go so is, in essence, relearning how to play the position.

Now, I'm no film guy and no expert on what it takes to be an effective back in one system as opposed to another but I thought he made an interesting argument. I'll be curious to see how Sermon evolves since, like many I suspect, I was a little surprised they kept him over Hasty who is a little different from what is now pretty much a backfield of bruisers, outside of Mitchell maybe. Glad they kept Mason as well. Go Nners!

Hasty is TRASH. Sermon looks like a 2nd year backup. TDP and Mason are rooks who flashed decent vs 2nd and 3rd stringers in preseason. Nothing more.
