That was what we drafted Banks for.

I know, but he didn't look that great

Yeah but you could say the same about RBs taken a lot later in the draft, that you would not have needed to move up for.

Hasty looked much better behind the same said line

To be honest, yah I thought he looked pretty good too. I think it will be different with the starting O-line in there and when Shanahan scripts and game plans. It was basically Pro back yard football yesterday.

For some frame of reference, look at Sermon's stats at Ohio State. His first four games were brutal and he was splitting time with another running back. It took him a while to find his footing, but when he did he was unstoppable.

Be patient, he's a grinder with a unique running style.
I didn't think he was that bad. Out OLine sure was.

This... between him and Mostert were going to have a hell of a 1-2 punch, Sermon isn't Gore, but I loved seeing his ability to push forward and make positive plays, hes a strong downhill runner and we need that in this offense.
Just like with Lance, it is hard to judge him when his blocking isn't great.

But that being said, when you trade up for a Running Back, you usually want to see something to justify doing that. Since you can find RBs later in the draft. I am not really seeing anything yet

Hasty was playing against 3rd and 4th stringers though.

This happens every preseason. The RBs who play in the second half always out perform the starter in preseason.

For a 3rd round RB that we traded up for he was disappointing. Lets hope he gets better fast. Kyle has had bad luck drafting RB's.

he's too much into his own head when it comes to drafting RBs. he wants guys that really fit his system, but just draft BPA at RB. if he's got the talent, he will play good in whatever system. RBs are either good or they aren't for the most part. it's rarely about the system.

He was outplayed by Hasty who is a fringe roster guy. He needs to be better. I suspect his production will improve with Lance's designed QB RPO's

i will say he looked a bit timid out there.

watch the play of the first toss, you can see how slow he was running towards that ball and staring at his hands. he just wanted to make sure he's not fumbling again. now look at Mostert when he gets a toss play, it's mostly eyes down field and full speed almost as soon the ball is hiked.
