He is slow ran a 4.6 forty. He is not going to be a home run hitter. He always falls forward and he is going to churn out a bunch of 6yd runs and he will have at least 3 catches a game. Not a big fan of the pick but I believe he will be a solid player.

Yea I'm not looking for home run speed just hitting the holes faster and making cuts. I was 50/50 on the pick. I like Sermon as a player just felt the team could've addressed another need. I think he'll be fine

He caught the ball really well and pushed the pile but he danced a little too much. Kinda reminded me of Mike Davis. He's a little too dependent on his ability to make guys miss in short spaces. Instead of just making his cut and going fast.

He might be better running behind a "Levon Bell in Pit" kind of scheme.

How about that new rule where defenders outside the box are not allowed to duck at the legs of a pulling OL? This will be huge for Kyle's offense.

Look for a lot more sweeps in the NFL all around.

Yea now that one is crazy. Sweeps are going to be huge. DB's are either getting out of the way or getting trucked by o lineman. It really sucks to be a DB

I wonder if this rulle applies to when teams are running screen plays

Especially for Mostert on getting to the edge. Not sure Sermon gets many outside the tackles looks.

Yes it applies to screen passes. No low blocks while outside the designated area (tackle box + 2 yards outside tackle box). This also applies for offensive blockers trying to block defenders - can't go below the waist.
He will have those 10 yard burst runs but yeah won't be the home run threat. But will likely have a pretty good average yards per run.

What is really good for him as a rookie is that he is a willing and capable blocker. On his Oklahoma tape he excels at blocking, on his Ohio state film you can tell he was dealing with that shoulder and wasn't as willing to throw his body into a D lineman. But for a rookie, the number 1 way to get in the field is proving you can pass protect. Which he has shown he can when healthy… and maybe showed it too much on Brunskill (I think) tripping over him. But you love to see it.

He had a play where he did a great job moving to the correct spot to protect.

But that new rule. Man, we will see some long TD runs for teams that have ball carriers with break-away spped this year.
I was impressed by him, the fumble it was clear that was when he hurt his hand, but he was fine afterwards, I just wonder how long till he becomes RB1? Not because Mostert sucks, but because Sermon either outplays him, or Mostert gets hurt, and Sermon doesn't let go of the #1 job.

2nd string offensive line vs their starters. People wanted Mostert cut several years back because he had a below average preseason with no blocking. Give him some time.

You're right about that. I was one of the idiots that wanted Mostert cut for I think that undrafted FS, I forgot his name. Either way Sermon can break tackles and has an elite 10 yard split (same as Mostert ) so I think he can at the minimum be a very good number 2 Latavius Murray type back

Also, did you hear Tim Ryan drooling over him. Just repeating that he makes people miss and it takes more than one defender to take him down and so on. I'm excited for the Trey Trey connection but I really want to keep Mostert after this year

No way this guy ever replaces Mostert. He's there to absorb some of the big hits so Mostert is able to run free.

This is the vibe I get from him too.
I'm just happy that Sermon looked comfortable catching the ball.

Yup. I loved the pick. It's obvious Kyle has been searching for a more premiere back and Sermon has that chance.

Said better than me.
