Even though he doesn't play special teams, the #2 RB is never inactive

They had to sit one RB and decided on the rookie. Mitchell is needed on Special teams. They could have started all 4 RB's and sat Thomas but with Norman not ready and Eman out, they needed him. They don't want to dress just 4 CB's. You have to atleast dress 8 Olineman, so they couldn't sit another one. I guess they could have sat Jennings but then they only have 4 WR's. RB was the position they had the most depth at, other than the Dline. But they already had to sit Kinlaw. So it seemed it came down to Sermon or Hasty. I don't think this had anything to do with being down on Sermon. It was a numbers game. You can only dress so many.

My Senior year in HS I was the most experienced and best center on the team and I knew it. After the first game (we won), I came in to the next week of practice complacent & cocky and got benched for game 2 in favor of my junior back-up. Message received.

Hopefully this is as simple as that, but it's troubling either way.

This is probably why more people are wondering. Sermon was supposed to be the short yardage back.

It's telling me that Shanny doesn't foresee a ground and pound game and in short yardage and goal line the other Trey is running the ball.

Maiocco tweeted that the coach's didn't feel he better than Mostert, Hasty or Mitchell. Not a good look

Lance obviously we understand why but still for a team with Super Bowl plans not great having you picks rounds 1-3 not playing week 1

Sermon didn't look good in preseason. I never understood the disconnect between what I saw happening in those games and the TV announcers hyping him.
