Yeah, this is all I see Sermon contributing.

This is vital though. It is vital in running out the clock when the team has a lead. Rather than sending small guys like Mitchell on RB dives when the defense expects the run.

I thought that was Trey Lance

Hopefully it's more of Mostert Mitchell Hasty looking good because RBs are expected to be ready to go after being drafted.

Yup. I thought I was missing something when people were saying they were impressed with the preseason, I was thoroughly unimpressed by it lol. Guess the coaches thought the same

They don't base all of it based on preseason games but Sermon needs to up his commitment to getting better because a 3rd round draft pick at RB should be seeing the field on game days
Yeah hopefully he can step up because we needed a little bit more of a physical runner that can break tackles with tired defenders protecting the lead in the late 3rd/4th. This is where he should be shining.

Ouch. Well he has time to get better before thrown into the fire. So that's a plus

When you have a solid roster (at spots like RB, WR) you're not forced to play guys that should be playing but maybe didn't work enough for it.

I know people are upset early on (him and Aiyuk),...but the idea is the payoff will come.

When the defense expects the run, it doesn't matter if you have prime Marshawn Lynch--if they're any good they'll be able to slow you down. At the end of the day, what wins games when you have a lead is defense and a QB who can convert 3rd downs. Funnily enough, those things also help you take the lead in the first place! Which is why I'm not reserving a precious roster slot for a closer RB to ice away a lead.

Drafting RBs on day 1 is asinine. Drafting RBs on day 2, they better be Alvin Kamara.
Draft your RBs on Day 3, or don't draft them at all!

I tend to agree with this. Def not 1st round ever. But to be fair Sermon was a late comp pick 3rd rounder outside the top 100 picks.
He should play next week if Mostert can't go.

He may be active but not see any snaps as a 3rd string RB.

Should have kept Wayne Gallman and released Sermon
