If Ambry is only somewhat bad, they would probably have left Womack in the slot and play Ambry outside when M Ward went down.

He is deep in the dog house. It is not about more competition this season at all. He is much closer to Pettis than Aiyuk in terms of being in the dog house in their sophomore season.

I believe this. I'm pretty patient, but it isn't looking good
Was excited for this kid to take the next step this year, but disappointed so far. Hopefully he can get on the field & make plays like he did last year

He got beat so much last year and gave up so many touchdowns it was like watching Witherspoon. Yes he had a good game or two and he showed some improvement but then again he would give up touchdowns in those same games where he makes a play or two. Way too inconsistent and he got beat so much in camp that it's too much of a risk to have him on the field. Bottom line he's not good yet. He is just like Witherspoon

Yep, we had to tailor the defense around protecting him. You saw what happens and what kind of defensive scheme we can play when we've got 2 good CB's on the field (through the first 4-5 games of this year). Now, unfortunately, we're going to have to go back to protecting our other CB unless verrett miraculously recovers and can perform.

He's worse than Witherspoon. Ambry gets picked on.

Depends on what you meant protecting. In a cover 3 the outside corner is basically on an island. Like last season his int against the Rams. Ambry was on an island covering Odell Beckham.

We definitely didn't play as much man defense as Demarco Ryan preferred last season. There was so much PI early in the season, including Eman. So later in the season we played less man coverage and we saw a significantly fewer PI and coverage breakdown.

We haven't been shy away from man coverage this season with Mooney and Eman. I do envisioned us playing less man coverage going forward unless Mooney and a healthy Jason Verrett are playing outside corners. I don't think Demaco will be too comfortable playing lots of man with either Lenoir, Womack, or Ambry playing outside corner.

that's why we should use him as much as we can so we can find out if we should keep him.. i never see KS10's sense when it comes to young guy who should be playing so that we know to get rid of him or not..

and in the meantime allow 1-2 TDs a game and lose directly as a result of him playing? Hell no.

ALLOW??

You've not seen the kid play or start since last year, and you say this?

GUAPO !! if you see Ambry this weak, then CUT him already !! WHY HOLD ON TO THE GUY?

Was this guy injured last week?? Why wasn't he in over Dontae Johnson. I would've felt much more comfortable seeing Ambry Thomas cover Drake London than Womack.

I may not have seen him since last year but according to the coaches and in practice (who's ahead of him) it looks like demo and Womack and basically everyone passed him in training camp. If you read the practice reports you would see that he was being beat more than any of our corners on the roster. I hope he gets better but I'm not so sure it would be worth the risk putting him out there

JUST my opinion... some players just suck in practice.. then they happen to be GAME DAY type of guys.. but my point is, since we hurtin at the corner, put the guy in there and see what he can do.. if he sucks, then let him go..

This is why I think KS10 sucks as a HC.. he continues to sign useless bums, then allow them to play but yet, he wont give our young guys the same chances..

To me they don't trust him. They will play DJ over him.

That what it seems like to me too. That's too bad, he was a beast in week 18 last season. Hopefully he put things together in the second half of the season.

Sink or swim they need to play so they know what they really have once and for all. But maybe they feel like they do.
