Going to have to see more before I believe that. He gives me Ahkello Witherspoon vibes in the sense that there would be periods of time where he would look completely solid before turning into a complete liability. We need someone who can be consistent.

Yeah, Thomas gives up so many big plays and so many penalties, just because he's had two or three good games as a 49er in as many years doesn't mean anything. He may be better than Oliver but I'm scared whenever he's on the field. So just like the wolf said in pulp fiction, "let's not start sucking each other's D's just yet"

Scheme matters. Thomas is a boundary man CB. I have no idea why Oliver is even a NCB. He was an outside C3 guy in college. Lenior should say inside imo.

I don't think Thomas is consistent. I think in today's game every DB is gonna get beat or getting flags, there are no shutdown guys

The reason Oliver is in the slot is because he had his best year last year at that position in Atlanta. He did very very well, and he had been atrocious on the outside. That is the whole reason they moved him inside. However, this year he's horrible, so we're all just happy that he's off the field,

Thomas isn't perfect by any means but I'd argue he's better than Oliver.

It just seems a horrible slot player (Oliver) is much tougher to work around than a not-great outside CB. We'll see what happens but we were able to stay afloat with helping Thomas in 2021. And to my knowledge Thomas has never given up 15 straight completions when targeted. Not trying to say he's some incredible corner but Oliver is josh Norman status for me: unplayable. He's so f**king bad and it crippled our defense since he was in the slot.

I will take giving up a penalty and a big play that Thomas is likely to give up a game, compared to what we were giving up without him.
Lenoir playing on the outside consistently gives way to much cushion. He is just not a good fit for outside corner.
Oliver in the slot cant even cover his man for two seconds.
There is a reason this game our pass rush looked its best. There have been many games where guys are generating pressure but the corners were letting guys open way to quickly. This defense just works way better with Thomas on the outside and Lenoir in the slot.
I don't get sometimes why Thomas has gotten so much hate. This defense has looked good in the past when he is on the field. Was he the weak link? Yes, but he was the weak link on a defense that almost always was playing really well. But that is much better then having two weak links on a defense playing really really bad. I am glad they were able to see the problem and address it. I know it is only one game but It feels like we might of solved the problem. Hopefully in the off season we put the attention on the secondary that it should have gotten this year.
Womack will solve the problem imo. Lenoir is better on the outside but either way, Thomas gives up way too many big plays and penalties. Hopefully we don't get too exposed

When is Womack ready for action? I thought his window opened last week.

until then Thomas earned the right to continue to play.

He's had 2-3 very very good games so far, another few solid ones and only a few below average games, no?

PERSONALLY.. I fully believe that 2.. 20... and Womack are nickel backs' being forced to play at the corner position.. I like Womack a lot, I think he's always at the right plays at the right time type of player.. but between them three, I still like Ambry at the corner THE MOST...

He just needs more playing time.. he needs the time 2 is getting right now..

I think Womack is the best in the nickel, and a playmaker too. At least we have 2 solid options now

26's a waste... what a BUST !!
He's gonna get double moved by Evans next week. Hopefully he's learned from being abused by it so much.

This. Teams instantly know to go after him with great success, either a catch or P.I. He's not terrible by any means but his tracking and timing are horrible. Like Oliver, he's always right there but is incapable of making any kind of play on the ball.

Oliver is not a bad corner but with the injuries he was asked to cover shifty guys which he cant do. He is meant to cover the bigger bodied guys

The in-line TE for example or guys like CeeDee who he shut down
