You must be referring to Michael Sam, drafted by the Rams in 2014. He couldn't make the final cut. Got picked up by the Cowboys practice squad but was released a month later. In 2015 he participated in a veteran combine, but wasn't picked up by anyone. In 2015 he made his unspectacular CFL debut for Montreal. He then went through a bout of mental difficulties. He officially retired in 2015.

Michael Sam, honestly, didn't have the talent to stay on an NFL PS. I saw the preseason game he played in and he really didn't look very good. He was quite stiff. Didn't really have a burst needed for an EDGE or interior rusher. Routinely he got pushed around. He generally just didn't have what it took to stay in the NFL, in fact, he was over-drafted IMHO.

IN terms of Carl Nassib it remains to be seen how this is gonna play out. He's got real talent, and 5 proven years in the NFL. I believe he just signed an extension, so it's interesting to see how this plays out. I'm curious to see how he's treated in the locker room. Those are reports I'm waiting on.

Word on the street was NFL made sure one of the owners drafted him, no matter what, to avoid any controversy.

This is true, and I thought is was a disgrace for the NFL to pressure an team to spend a draft pick on a talent-wise undeserving player for PC politics. But I wonder what the NFL will do when/if Carl Nassib begins to experience ostracization in the locker room.

Let's see how masculine they are or if feminists made them soft.

Well, considering how male sports locker rooms are pretty much one few last bastions where men can actually be men and voice/exercise their raw masculinity unfettered and without compunction I will not be surprised to later learn that Carl Nassib's locker room experience changes for the worse. I'm not predicting or even wanting that, just saying that I won't be shocked.

Ya what a great thing...

And it does sound like you want it, you are the pro masculinity guy. Can't have it both ways

So, being a "pro masculinity guy" (whatever that means) means that I want him to experience ostracism in the locker room? Are you saying that I am in favor of him being "gay bashed"? And please explain to me the "both ways" I'm trying to have it.

You typed it out in your previous post. Like I said, you can't have it both ways. You can't be this alpha male, pro toxic masculinity, but also say, "man I really wish he doesn't get gay bashed, but that's the reality of NFL locker rooms, the last place where masculinity can thrive..."

So you're definitely for the NFL locker room life style. But you're not for gay bashing...then you might want to rethink your stance on being so pro "raw masculinity". Because gay bashing and your "raw masculinity" go hand in hand.

In a sense, I mean there's really no way to put that into data. Either way, I was more talking about his definition of masculinity.

This kinda spilled over from the politics thread where it started with Lifer, not being okay with kids being taught about spousal abuse and somehow that makes men less masculine, followed by talks about how being very masculine is important. I understood some of the points he was trying to make, but he made some crazy left turns as well.

I'll just end it at that and drop it.

Good idea. You appear to be reading some things into it that were not intended. So...drop it.

That comment is inappropriate and out of line.
Good for him. Its about time big time sports and locker rooms see its not an issue. They thought it would be in an issue in the military as they moved away from don't ask don't tell to equality, but it was totally a non-issue. If you can you play, you can play.

Frankly I can't see how something that doesn't impact people bothers people so much.
Better a gay man than a wife beater or child abuser. We've had too many of them.

lol wtf. Thats like low key suggesting being gay is almost as bad but not as bad as a wife beater or child abuser. I doubt that is what you meant, but pretty much reads like that.
