And their owner and Harbaugh are big Michigan buddies...

If I'm Harbaugh, it'd be hard to turn down Chicago. Its the team that drafted him, traditionally the Bears have that built-in Midwestern ground and pound football mentality that aligns with him so well. Plus there's a potential young franchise QB in Fields, talented RB's, some very good players on defense and Fangio already knows quite a few of them. Grab Vic, Donatell, Jim Leavitt and start putting the band back together.

On the other hand, the Raiders are where he got his NFL coaching start, they're already a playoff team, have a lot of key spots on the roster filled and he could probably more easily hit the ground running there.

How much does playing in the same conference with his brother play into his decision? He's 0 for against John in the NFL.

Makes the firing of Flores even more puzzling

Flores wasn't getting along with the GM or Tua and other folks in the FO and the owner made the decision to remove the one rather than the two. My understanding is there was a power struggle with the GM and Flores overplayed his hand.
Miami requested permission to interview Mike McDaniels. That's a little surprising to me.

Yeah after firing Brian Flores, you would think they would go after a big name. Maybe its just a ploy to make it look like they are doing a big search.

I don't think there's any chance. Morris, Joseph, Bowles, are all more seasoned and out in front in terms of next HC. In terms of team D, the Bills are #1 by a wide margin which says Lezlie Frazier is likely in front too. The Saints finished #4 in D and recall Dennis Allen coached a game when Payton was out and they shutout Tom Brady in Tampa. He would be out in front.

Out in front of what? All those guys had opportunities as HCs and failed. Teams are always looking for the next great thing. There's no way you're selling Morris, Allen or Joseph, who absolutely bombed as HCs, to your fanbase.

I guarantee you Ryans is higher up on the list of candidates of every team with an opening just because he's young, successful and a former player that dealt with a lot of adversity and ran a very good defense despite it.

After 1 season as DC, for an uber talented defensive roster where most that power comes from the Dline, which is more Chris than it is Demeco? I doubt it. Demeco won't get HC sniffs for a few years imo, he's barely gotten his feet wet in terms of NFL coaching careers. I mean he played his last game just 6 years ago. Also Bill Belichick was thought of as a failed coach at one time too......

Just saying that I doubt owners have the same distaste for a coach who's flailed elsewhere, and as a matter of fact may be good for the new team if that coach actually learned from his previous failures.

Any team that puts it's faith in a one year DC as HC is asking for trouble. Saleh has far more experience and look at the problems he's having. It seems like nobody wants to wait anymore. I want it all and I want it now.

Stay off Peters NY

They have multiple requests in for GM candidate interviews. 2 with us, 2 with Tennessee,
1 from Buffalo and 2 with AZ.

One of the guys from the Cards is former all pro safety Adrian Wilson who is their VP of Pro Scouting. Didn't know he had worked his way up the ladder in the FO for them.

Smells like a ploy to further entice Rodgers to come to Denver.

Tomlin was a one year DC. He worked out. Vance Joseph was a one year DC. He didn't. The book is still out on Staley but this far, not so great.

Overall, teams are more willing than ever to give a young coach a shot if they kill it in the interview process. Aaron Glenn is getting HC interviews, he just finished his first year as a DC with the 3-13-1 Lions.
Wouldn't be wonderful if Richard Hightower for whatever reason gets a HC job?
The guy sucks, but if David Culley can get jobs so can Hightower.
Would get rid of the coach of the worst unit, and perhaps it'd come with some draft picks.

What is even more surprising to me so far the only names listed in their HC search are Mike McDaniels and the Bills offensive coordinator. I think they would have to be pretty insane to give the job Mike McDaniels TBH. I think teams think if they can take our offensive coaches and then they can recreate our offense. It is not an easy thing to do. It didn't work out for the Broncos. So far I don't think it has worked for the Jets. I don't think Mike McDaniels lands the job though. Again, I think they would have to be crazy to give him the job.

Edit: Dan Quinn is now on their list as well.
