odd, they should want an OC

He's tight with Caserio and Easterby. I would say it's his job to loose....if I'm Flores I'm telling I want a 5+ year deal though lol

Interesting turn of events. Flores wanted Watson, Watson seemed willing to play for Flores but Watson hates Cal. If Flores ends up in Houston, can he get Watson to want to stay?
Miami is in California?

I always remember Mayo as the guy New England got from the Joe Staley trade. To the we could've drafted Tony Ugoh fans- the 49ers won :).

Not shocked at all. I'll be even less shocked if he goes into the interview room and blows them away ala Staley and Tomlin.

I could see that. It would hurt my soul. I hope he doesn't take the interview.

On the Texans situation, this screams Brian Flores. I don't think they had any plans to let Culley go (he was fired pretty late) until the Dolphins foolishly let Flores go.

He will have tons of contacts for offensive coaches from the Shanahan system . Which should help him. That and the fact teams seem to be looking for younger new talent and not so much the recycled candidates.

That would suck.

Fangio runs a 3-4...Niners would have to adjust their personnel: develop a NT and jumbo "elephant" hybrid OLB/DE (do-able)

Who are all these contacts? Most of the guys who came up under Shanahan are already either HC's or working as OC"s currently.

The one major downside of a guy like Ryans is that he hasn't had the time to build those relationships with other assistant coaches around the league. It'd be like Tomsula all over again where he'd be leaning on the GM and other people in the organization to help with putting together a staff.

Those guys leave because they aren't play callers and go with go guys like Ryan to have full control to get a head coaching job.

up to him? you're not making any senses after you just posted the bolded part of the above.

forget the 5 year contract, if anyone wants to make him a HC in the NFL, magic w/his 5 year contract will happen... you gots to know that by now.. right ??

Do you have any idea how long Mooch was coaching in college before Eddie D called him up?

SMDH. Do you deliberately try to misunderstand?

Contracts don't just disappear unless both sides want them to. No reason for the Gophers to allow it to lapse without significant compensation.

The answer to your question is 18 years in college and NFL. And DeBartolo approached him to become the OC. It was somewhat of a shambles that led to him being jumped into the head coaching role and in view of his record there and in particular in the playoffs, I doubt they would do it again.

MOOCH was never a HC for 18 years in college... it is YOU who deliberately try to misunderstand when you read my posts.. NOT that I was a fan of his because I thought we had SB teams when he was coaching and just like KS, he just was not a good HC..

LOOK, I just feel that PJ Fleck will do a better job if given the chance.. but that we'll have to wait since it has not happened yet... how long do you personally think that KS should keep getting chances after chances..

But who are these guys? There isn't anyone left besides unproven offensive and defensive assistants. I'd wait if I were Ryans unless he wants to just go through the process.

Meco?
I don't see any team would consider Meco in a serious matter as a HC.. not yet at least..
... but IF by any chance Meco gets the job, I'd like to hire their X-HC as our new DC!!

Just go to any team with an offensive head coach calling his own plays. Brian Callahan or Kevin O'Connell are examples. Cameron Turner QB coach AZ or Bills QB coach Ken Dorsey could work as well.

There are guys in position, but does he even know them? Sure you interview guys, but you also like to have a group of people in mind to really have a full staff. There may be exceptions, but this may be one of the fastest tracks to being a head coach as we've ever seen. Part of this is also- I don't want him to leave lol. Can we make it to 2023 at least? Sheesh. I'd like to see his defenses with two NFL starting caliber corners, some better health, and consistency in the starting lineup.
