Looks like Lovie got the gig.

it's rare an NFL coach gets two different chances, let alone three like Lovie. He went 8-24 with the Bucs after his Bears tenure.

In 2 years on a trash team that just drafted their QBOTF in year 2. And Winston looked promising in year 1. What was he objectively expected to do with THAT team? What is the standard for the first two years on a trash team?

he should have been given at least 3 years. It's not fair to fire a coach after 2 seasons of a rebuild.

Agreed coaches should get 3 years but that doesnt always happen.

Then again what if we gave Chip Kelly 3 years? We'd miss out on Kyle for sure.

Kyle's record after '17 +'18 for us wasn't great either. I'm happy we had the patience to give him room to build.

But the garbage he inherited!

He chose to get rid of players and not retain others.

He CHOSE Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley, and traded up to draft Beathard....when others were available for him. He had full control of who he wanted. Many coaches don't even get that. So no sympathy from those early years.

I'm glad he turned it around though.

He should get sympathy and more coaches should when inheriting mess. There is a thing called reasonable expectations. Not having them will create a turnstyle of coaches and more often than not, teams don't really become better when firing the HC.

I don't think anyone including Kyle and John ever confused Beathard with being the future of the Franchise. They most likely saw enough in him to take a shot on him at that point perhaps thinking he could at least be a solid backup.

Twice. In the mid 90s and then from 2010-2014.

yep with Harbaugh as O-Line coach.
Speaks volumes that KC has yet to bring this guy back after pushing him so hard as a HC candidate for the last two years. Seems more Iike they just wanted someone to hire him away and get him out of the building.

Also why after 14 HC interviews, no one had hired him.

How a season-long rift between Patrick Mahomes and Eric Bieniemy ruined the AFC Championship

"Most of the guys tune Bieniemy out, because he does the one thing good coaches don't do: ignores feedback from players."

We have heard from multiple Chiefs staff, including some who stand on the sidelines, that Reid, Mahomes and Bieniemy have disagreed over gameplans and strategy all year, as well as far back to late 2020.

The same sources have indicated to us that the reason Bieniemy doesn't have a head-coaching job is because of his temperament and unwillingness to accept feedback from his players.

This came up with the Houston Texans and the New Orleans Saints. Broncos GM George Paton asked Bieniemy point blank in his interview about a situation he saw while in Kansas City earlier this season. The answer from Bieniemy eliminated him from job contention.

They don't have much of a choice. They already lost Kafka to the Giants.

Depends. They could stay in house if they feel like the RB or WR coach is ready to step up as OC. Otherwise, yeah he may have to go outside the org to find the next guy.

Not surprised about this with all the interviews without a single offer. A good HC is more than Xs and Os this guy doesn't get it, and looks to not have learned. He's a smart football guy and will have a job, but there's. Reason why he won't get a hc gig.

Sone of it is probably b******t, other parts have been supported elsewhere. Meanwhile you have an OC that according to people in KC was the greatest thing since sliced bread but last year they only offered him a one year contract and now there appears to be debate on whether or not he'll return at all.

The Chiefs are clearly not as enthused about him as they let on and the rest of the league is far less into him than the NFL media is.

From LeSean McCoy
McCoy was inactive for the AFC Championship Game and Super Bowl LIV, and he explained on the "I Am Athlete Tonight" podcast that he had a falling out with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy during his lone season with the Chiefs.

"Me and the coordinator, we had our differences about different things," McCoy said. "And I'm gonna say this: it's the reason why every year they (Chiefs) keep hyping him up to get a coaching job, a head coach or offensive coordinator jobs somewhere else and he don't get one because ... some players, right, he talks to them a certain way and some players would take it. I wouldn't take it. "

McCoy wasn't surprised and said race had nothing to do with it.

"It's not because he's a Black coach. That's not the reason. The reason why is because he, I'm not going into that," McCoy said, before stopping and not revealing the reason.
