I hope that's the case, but it's hard to figure out. In photographs, he doesn't look like the big, strong, occupies two OL bodies, brawler that we need to set up the edge rushers, but the available videos (mostly highlights, for what that's worth) seem to suggest that he's overwhelmingly strong and brutish on the inside. I sure hope that's the case and not just a figment of his highlight reels. Our impressive speed along the edges doesn't seem to amount to much without someone pushing back the center of the pocket from the inside. Hopefully his overwhelming strength is real, consistent, and forces the application of a second body to contain him.

It's an interesting pickup and the price has me scratching my head--young, cheap, and promising...isn't this the kind of player the Texans would want to keep? So what's the rub? Headcase? Bad locker room guy? Chronic testicular Ebola?

No coincidence it was right after another NFCW move. It's simply a deflection move. They do this every time there's a big move within the NFCW.

Yes, the timing of it just SCREAMS distract the fan base from the Rams/von news. Why else would both teams sign a player in the same week? Surely has nothing to do with a trade deadline or anything.

As for the move, I am excite.

lol right? deflection move, they needed help on the DL with Kin/Hurst/Ford all dealing with stuff. Signing CO doesn't distract this fan base about Von Miller lol.

It's funny if Von was traded here NC would be complaining about spending up for a old injury prone player that's a rental on a 3-4 team

Haha. If Von Miller got traded here, Jed would no longer be the owner of the team, Paraag would be working for the A's and Lynch would be broadcasting from his home in San Diego.
Exactly, no way they are bringing in a future HOF. It would be like bringing in Trent Williams . . . Wait

This he's similar to AA…he will be used inside/outside

He shares the same agent as Watson. Apparently there's been some beef there according to Texans fans.

I know they've never traded for a guy and gave him elite money *cough Trent Williams/Dee Ford.

nah you'd be in you injury thread talking about how Miller is hundred yrs old missed most of 2020 because of injury…let's keep it real

Makes me wonder if Ford might be more dinged than we thought.
Low risk given the late round pick traded to Houston. I like this trade.

I think Omenihu replaces Kinlaw.

Thank you, appreciate that.

I sure hope so.
Sum up: This allows the defense to move Armstead to take Kinlaw's place inside and have some-to-most of his plays at DE spread around to Abukam, CO, and Willis so Bosa doesn't get gassed. On that basis it's a good move for the Niners. It just doesn't improve the team to compete with the Cardinals and Rams this year.

This was my question also. Why in the world did Texans let him go…essentially, for a 6th? I watched him play on some Not-so-good- Longhorn teams, and he was a standout. Tough, mauler, strong, incredibly long arms…there had to be something weird at Texans for them to let him go…and we being in the depleted DL situation, i can't believe we got Omenihu. Wanted him in the draft, but no dice. Well, we got him now. Now let's see if that Longhorn excellence translates to NFL…so far, it sounds like a guy who just didn't get the snaps….we've had guys like that who we traded and they did well with their new team.

The dumpster fire across the bay, who migrated to Vegas, did fairly well with solomon…a lot better than here, anyway. Sometimes with a talented player, it just takes a change of address to bring out the best in the guy. I hope that is what happens with Omenihu.

I might add, some here are making fun of this trade, when Ruggs (Raids) killed a guy in a DUI early this a.m., their HC resigned for "actions unbecoming"…ok despicable… and there have been a number of character issues on several teams as of late. Compare that to getting another DL who has a lot of talent , is young and not on IR…we should be so lucky.

As for the von Miller thing…. If we gave up two 2nds and a 3rd for him and had no picks rds 1-5, i would have been really hacked off. And i like him…but injures, age….well, LA is betting on the cum. We'll see how it works.

to me this is just unexpected found talent at a time when we really need it. Who can complain about that?

If Ford can stay in the 20% snap count range and Ebukam can not suck, I think we have the pass rush talent we need now.

That shows the scale we gotta use when you say "and Ebukam can not suck". Rofl

What's the issue with this move? Late 23' pick, still young at 24 at a position that's always a need add the fact he's getting paid peanuts and doesn't take much cap

It's frustrating too see the Rams trade for Von miller, whilst we trade for depth.

Saw a Broncs fan say Von hasn't done anything since game 3, is 32 and coming off a knee or foot surgery. So although that trade does sound good and look good, because we all know VM, there's no guarantee he is what he use to be. Von may ball out the rest of the year but it's either a rental or some other pieces gotta go within a couple years. No way the Rams can continually sign top name talent and pay everyone for more than a 1-3 year stretch.

We say that about every trade that's not ours.

He's also has a 35% pressure rate which is #1. That might bode well next to Aaron Donald.

Yep could be, but it doesn't cost any extra to be optimistic about any guy coming in. IMHO I don't think this team is going to make it to the playoffs this year, and by a miracle if they do, I predict a first game exit. Not that I wouldn't love to see them kick ass from here on out but I just haven't seen the consistency that makes me think they can beat the top teams.
Von probably would have helped us on D some but is he the missing link to run the tables? No.

I'd rather keep our 3&4 for next year and pick up Omenihu who's in his prime to kick the tires and see what he has over a high priced, 32 y/o pre injured vet (who would most definitely been injured again this year, if we had signed him).

The Rams house is going up quick, and it is a nice house, but it's built on sand.

That would be classic lol. I like the kid. He has a decent pressure rate on limited snaps. He's definitely not a bad player. I'm excited to see him out there.
