Charles Omenihu, DE signing with the Chiefs

Went back and looked at a couple tapes of Horn games of last few yrs and it looks like Omenihu played mostly on outside but definitely was inside at times. Looking thru Texans and Omenihu, it sure looks like they used him primarily outiside. Also after the clips i saw, it is curiouser and curiouser as to why in the world they decided to trade him…ok , check that…they just gave him away. The kid seems like he has a good head on his shoulders and he is strong, bull rusher, with strong hands, and is quick. And he was a real talent for the Texans…but somehow just didn't get a lot of snaps. Could very well be a coaching screwup , too.

with all the Texans problems , esp at QB and his 2 dozen sexual harassment complaints/suits/ ??? Legal issues, one would think Omenihu would really be delighted to come to the 9ers where there is no extra curricular krapt going on. The Watson thing just has to be awful for all those guys to deal with.

Somebody earlier posted that they had heard of perhaps some problem between Omenihu and Watson…if that's the case, well, thank you Texans. Still, it could be he is going to do well playing inside primarily at a point in time when we desperately need him …inside.

maybe it's the long arms, the power, the speed, but he sure made me think of a young Aldon…but Omenihu has a good head on his shoulders. I think we just got a helluva steal…way to go big John. We'll need to see but my money is he is a perfect fit and really completes the DL.

Ford/AA/Omenihu/ #97 Whew….cannot wait to see that hit the turf.

Aldon was faster but Omenihu sure resembles the way Aldon moved rushing the passer. We might have gotten a steal that the texans couldn't develop. I just hope he gets enough snaps.
One other historical note…in the annual TEXAS/OU game in Dallas every yr, Omenihu sacked Kyler twice…on consecutive plays. Wouldn't mind seeing that again. Was a couple yrs back, but i bet they both remember it.

oops, forgot that Kyler is not playing Sun. That's even better.

double oops…now kyle saying we are practicing, planning on playing against Kyler.

For the Horns, he was really a great DE. But maybe that didn't translate to NFL, and he did much better inside. We've had guys not play well for us , go elsewhere and suddenly become a bona fide player. Hoping that happens here…inside, tho, not out.

a lot of the sacks in the highlight vid had him pressuring from the inside. 67.5
Wonder if we'll see him play this sunday.

should be easier for a DL to come in and play
I imagine he could see a handful of snaps, maybe 10-15 in certain situational moments.

Honestly, i expect Omenihu to be there right next to Dee, AA, Nick…or in other words, starting. IDK more than anyone else, but expect him to replace Kin. Yup, right off the bat. But we'll see. A whole lot depends on what Kyle and Demeco saw or are seeing this week. But if he looks ready, they plug him in.

Looked back at some more Horn tapes, and it looks like he was playing the outside a lot but no question he has some nice sacks from inside. These are old now, and i just haven't seen much from his Texan's days, but again, what i have seen brings back same question…WHY? Why the heck would they give away a guy like Omenihu? (6th)…only things that come to mind are DL coach liked somebody better, or somebody, (rumors were Watson) had a spat with him but that is just gossip, not fact…or maybe it is that he just isn't as good a DE as they have and felt he was just an extra.

Whatever, can't wait to see him play and see if his highlites from his limited Texans play are the kind of DT we got …or not. The Kin thing was a real ball buster. With all our injury hx, it sure would be nice to get a break for once. But i bet they try him at DE also. If he is as good as his vids, he'll see a fair amount of time. I wasn't looking forward to seeing our DL without Kin.
For wha tit's worth, I heard Greg Cosell's response this morning when KNBR asked about Omenihu. He hadn't heard about it and was really surprised. He thinks he has the potential to be a much better player based on flashes that he saw on tape. Let's hope he's right.

AAPS even halfway successful it will take some of the sting out from passing on Aziz..
Hopefully Koc could get him going like he did with Kerry Hyder or even better (he's much quicker)
Coach Kocurek get to work!
I'm kinda excited about this kid not gonna lie. Really liked him during that draft
