What are the thoughts on this guy?

Personally I think the NFL has made a lot of mistakes. They include the following:

1. Making the kickoff a useless exercise. They moved the ball up and the result is the majority of kicks are now touchbacks. So 22 people take the field for what (over 60 percent of the time) is a boring uneventful play. This is stupid.

2. Not content to ruin kickoffs, the NFL ruined onside kicks. The surprise onside used to be a fun play (see Sean Payton's gutsy Super Bowl decision, or Bill Cowher, or Mike Nolan in his 49er debut). Now because you can't move prior to the ball being kicked the play essentially is gone from pro football. Even the regular onside kick is for the most part gone. Sad.

3. Ties are dumb and belong in soccer. College football figured this out and has a dramatic OT. The NFL doesn't yet get it. Plus for safety reasons I don't understand why a team is compelled to play a 5th quarter. OT should be quicker and should result in a clear winner.

4. OT can result in the coin toss basically deciding the game. See SB 51 when an exhausted Atlanta D that just got shelled in the second half had to go right back out to start OT. I knew as soon as the coin landed this game is over. Famously in the 2018 AFC Championship league MVP Patrick Mahomes was reduced to the role of spectator. He never got to touch the ball in OT because of the coin toss. Brady won the toss, drove down and won the game. Would anyone want to bet against Mahomes if KC were to have won the toss? College again provides a proven exciting model where both teams get to possess the ball.

5. 17 game season. This is just dumb on it's face. For some reason we are playing more road games this year than home games. The NFL had 14 games, then 16, the logical next step is 18 regular season with 2 pre season.
hate the guy... We will never win a ship as long as he's commish

- Going off my own theory of what i've seen and how we been treated when RG has been in office
I remember my family taking me to NFL games in the 50's. The stadium would be packed before the opening kickoff. There would be an energy that seemed almost unmatched the rest of the game. You could hear the sound of the ball hitting the kickers shoe. Take it away, the suits know what's best. While you're at it make the defense play with one hand tied behind their backs. Which is basically what's happening to DB's. They know what's best for the fans.

cause' he's a Boston /east coast guy.

And Pete Caroline and Russell are light years away from the niners in the a*s kissing department when it comes to Goodell.
this douchebag is one of the most hated ppl in all of sports. they should have elections to his position every two years. no sense to have a biased east coast dictator running the league and giving refs orders on when to call penalties.

I've often wondered why he's just booed mercilessly. I mean, given his douchebaggery it's no surprise, but he runs a pro sport. Pro sports are supposed to be fun. If he was halfway good at his job and consistent he'd probably be beloved.

I used to think that, but not anymore
What does one have to do so the zebras are on our side goodell?
Early on, in his first year or two as commish, his big "thing" was player discipline vis a vis players like Chris Henry and Pac-Man Jones, among others. I recall criticism early on as he was so arbitrary with punishments.

His focus seemingly shifted over to growing the NFL.. globally and expanding Thursday night football…. all while being about player safety, supposedly. These two concepts do not go hand in hand and paint his "player safety" initiatives in a disingenuous light.

Lastly, Officiating has never been worse than under Goodell. So many iffy/close calls happen annually.

All of these things combined together more than suffice in explaining why he's so disliked.

Good post. Seems like everything he does is arbitrary. Player safety means take all the fun of the onside kick out, yet OT is a 5 quarter everyone is out there cramping up marathon that can end in a tie? Doesn't make a lick of sense. The current OT is terrible.
I earlier asked if Goodell " has it out for us". I KNOW he does. I just wanted to see if out here others believe it too, and I was correct. Personally, I can't stand the man and pray that he will soon leave as Commissioner but unfortunately it doesn't look that way. It looks like the league wants to extend his contract. My only question is WHY??,

You could find people in every fan base who thinks this.
