But not in all the other multiple categories which are far more important to QB play. Like Brock_STAR is. Both of which prove how NFL teams get QB picks wrong. Herbert and Brock prove that both from opposite ends of the spectrum.

Any criticism of Herbert has to be tempered with what he's had to deal with the past 3-4 seasons. Staley was never the right HC for the Bolts, having a special talent (Herbert) as his QB that he couldn't do justice to. Look at the difference O'Connell's made with Cousins flourishing as never before. Believe it's 11 or 12 of the 14 projected playoff teams are led by offensive HC's. Look at the difference Steichem is making w/Colts...they're back in the hunt. So, all this is to say LAC leadership must do the right thing and get the best offensive coach they can find. They also need to get a GM who's open-minded and can work hand-in-hand with the new HC. With the right moves, including FA and the draft the new field leadership can get back in the fight. Too much talent on that team to be where they're at.

This franchise has sucked for years even when they had good talent. Last time they had a good team was when the Niners embarrassed them in the SB. Belichick? Harbaugh?

Eh, that's not true. They were good when they had Tomlinson and Rivers in their prime, but they just couldn't get past the 3-headed juggernaut in the AFC that were the Brady led Patriots, Manning led Colts and Roethlisberger led Steelers. If you put, say, the 2006 14-2 Chargers up against the 1994 11-5 Chargers that upset the Steelers to get to the Super Bowl against the Niners I'd bet that the 2006 team probably wins 7/10 times.

I'm talking about playoff wins and SBs. They haven't been good. In sports if you don't win or go deep into the playoffs the season is considered a failure. They've had more talent and done less with it than any team I can think of. Big names and stats don't mean squat when someone else wins the SB. The Chargers have cap issues next season and are going to need to take a hard look some of their high priced players. Williams , James and Bosa have trouble staying healthy. Do they try and move them and get draft picks so the new GM and coach can build the team they want.

If the Niners don't win it all this season they'll consider it a disappointing season. Too much talent not to win.

Gore has all the right to say that. So when it comes to the top 3 pick of the draft, you'll have all the excuses why he's not playing up to expectations but it's justified if he's the last pick of the draft.
