A true legend.
John Madden, Hall of Fame coach and broadcaster, dies at 85 (from @AP) https://apnews.com/article/cd81635dd3aac611af9e9424ec08d24a
A true legend. I will never forget those games he and Pat Summerall called in 80s and 90s. They made those Niners games even more enjoyable on top of the product on the field.

RIP. There will never be another like him.
Wow.

His name is almost synonymous with football.

RIP

The best broadcaster I've heard. As a young lad Madden had an art of making complex football strategy sound simple, exciting and fun. He would often focus on battles in the trenches and what each team / player is attempting to do. Increased my knowledge of the game tremendously.

He deserves 3 gold HOF jackets in my opinion. One as a coach. One as a broadcaster. One for the Madden NFL franchise which brought the game of football into millions of homes and is one of the longest running best selling franchises of all time. He insisted in the beginning the game be true 11 on 11 football with real NFL plays and feel.

Didn't realize he was already 85. Time flies. I remember the glory days of the 80s and 90s when Summerall and Madden announced those epic 49ers games. Madden really made any game more exciting and fun to watch. RIP.

Vin Scully is the goat imo. But agreed with everything else you said
Madden and Summerall were the best broadcast pair I've ever experienced. Even when they got old and he went a little crazy with the on screen pen.

RIP
Damn, that's really sad. I can't think of a more iconic football personality.
Rest in peace

It should've been that s**tty football game franchise they named him after instead
Rip to a legend.

How you remember him is a direct reflection of your age.
Lost a great one today 😔
Rip Madden. Loved hearing you call football games when I 1st started watching the game. Awesome human being. You'll be missed.
Wow. There will never be anyone like him. RIP LEGEND
