Frank Gore HOF?

Rushing yards are one thing, which is HOF worthy. But also the 4.3 avg….granted last two years hurt that average…but a career 4.5+ yds a carry, which 90% were on terrible teams. My god…put him on Emmit's HOF O-Line and he obliterates the record. He averaged more than emmitt too!! He never got national love bc of s**tty teams, no rings, and he is a quiet guy on and off the field, doesn't look for attention like some other players. Gore is my favorite Niner. Been a real fan since early 90's, so that's saying a lot imo.

Dude came back from multiple devastating injuries, at a position where those injuries end careers. Was behind Mcgahee, Willis and James at the U, and was still considered better than all of them. Was a durable workhorse his entire career, and those most physical position, if he is not 1st ballot idk who is.

Bolded: So would anyone, for that matter. Frank was the best at waiting and finding the holes.

Craig change the RB position in the NFL (Game changer)

Gore just lasted longer (Logevity)

No disrespect to craig but frank is BY FAR the more talented runner.

Generational vision, uncanny read, unmatched endurance. THEN factor in the lack of support and offensive brain trust and you are left contemplating mind boggling adjusted numbers if frank were playing on a machine.

Anyone who appreciates the art of running shows affection for Frank Gore. One of a kind.

LOL so would anyone... smh. Smith was better than Gore I watched em both. Both similar backs imo. Both complete backs that can block, catch, run inside, run outside, you name it. Both tough as nails. But Smith was the best player on a 3 time world champ team that kicked the crap out of us. He heldout one year and a team of the decade started I want to say 0-2 and realized they need to pay the man. The best player on a team of the decade.. ask anyone on that team.

smh yourself. the man did not get touched by anyone on the front 7 for like 6 years. his numbers were absolutely a product of a generational offensive line. gtfoh with that mess.

Lol wrong. He carried a team to three SBs and they did not win without him. Go back to the NYG game where the division is on the line dude separates his shoulder keeps grinding goes for 200+ Didn't take the offseason off, there is a reason he's the all time top back. Lots of great o-lines the Boys even recently had a great line and a top pick in Elliott what did he do with it.. yeah not much. Turns out setting all time records isn't easy and that crutch ppl fall back on oh the line was good is the most overrated talking point in sports. Sure the line was good but lots of teams have that. Nobody is rushing for 18,000+ tho.
Put Gore on Emmitt's Dallas, he possibly could have gotten 20k, and 5.0 ypc.. that whole o-line are HOF's, QB HOF'er, WR HOF'er..put Emmitt on Gore's 49ers he would be lucky to break 12k

Do you know who ran for 1000+ the season before Smith in Dal.. no one. Do you know who ran for 1000+ the season after E. Smith... no one. The guy is a league MVP, SB MVP, 3x SB winner and top player on a dynasty. Frank is none of that. I love Frank my all time favorite back and he will get his gold jacket I will watch the speech. I feel Emmitt, Barry, Faulk and LT were all better backs that I have witnessed.

Did the rb before smith have the same OL smith had?

The 89 Boys starters included Aikman, Irvin, Johnston at FB and on o-line they had Tuinei, Newton and Gogan. 3 of the same o-line starters.

In 92 E. Smith had this stat line 373-1713-18 with 59 receptions. After DAL won the SB he held out. Dallas would start 0-2 next season averaging 13 points per game. Holdout over DAL went 15-2 with Smith back in he won NFL MVP and SB MVP.

He's second in NFL history in TDs to Rice. To say all of this is a product of the system around him is silly. This was proven false cuz they tried to win without him and not pay a RB big bucks and they could not win without him or move the ball. He was the best player on arguably the greatest team of all time.

Gore and Smith are similar backs Smith better in every aspect imo.

Longevity alone doesnt get you top 3 rushing yards all time

Gore has a career 4.3 YPC

Emmitt Smith has 4.2 YPC

Not flashy...just got positive chunks every time.

In MIA in 2018 at age 35 Gore averaged 4.6 YPC and had 722 yards

Most RBs are on the scrap heap within 5 years....frank the tank just kept plowing ahead
your examples just shows it's longevity.. plus that 722 is just 45 yards a game..nothing to get excited about and not worth it for a team to sign him.

not a first ballot, but should get in

My example shows Frank Gore had a better career YPC than the consensus best RB.

This wasnt a 1 year statistical anomaly...he had sustained excellence which is different from longevity.

Longevity is a back of the roster ST guy who wants to reach 10 years in the NFL and has no stats behind it when he is done.

No RB will ever be a pure longevity candidate because it is the most brutal position on the field.

only taking a couple snaps a game is back of the roster.. stop acting like he was the starter.. It took the guys at the top of the rushing list a shorter amount of time to get those yards. the YPC is a facade or he would be leading the all time rushers and doing it in less seasons
Gore was consistent for a long period of time, but I don't remember him actually dominating the game the way some of those other RB's mentioned did. His 2006 season will always be remembered though.

Perhaps my fav I want to say he housed it twice from 80 yards in the same game vs SEA. Also the Philly game 2011 where we clearly turned a corner. Philly was the self named 'Dream Team' and a large point spread favorite we had a big road comeback win he helped lead it with go ahead TD I believe.

Best backs I've seen are Emmitt, Barry, Faulk and LT. Gore and C. Martin up next.

I hate the rings argument for a running back.

Also, I think longevity should absolutely play a factor for a running back.
