I've always loved the Saints... big fan of the city, love the uniforms, respect the way they play... we have had three absolute battles in recent history that came down to the wire, just classic NFL games. I have no apathy towards the team, in fact, I root for them when not playing us obviously.
But I've noticed that their fan base absolutely despises us. Anyone know why? Any piece of history I'm missing?

A few times in the late 80's and early 90's they were the league/national darlings that were picked to win the NFC West and "take out" the 49er dynasty. This is the Bobby Hebert/Dome Patrol LB teams. I think they won the division once in that stretch when we had a down year. They still resent it.

The Vic Fangio coached Dome Patrol.

Stupidest alignment ever.
How Carolina and Atlanta were ever considered the West Coast was dumb af.

They had to watch us dominate the division they were in for a long time. Makes sense.
Also, the Saints fanbase has become a really whiney/"the refs continue to screw us" fanbase in recent years. I know they got screwed on that PI. But they have had the benefit of some atrocious calls too. Yet they constantly believe the refs are out to get them. Its irritating.

Yeah it was before the internet once the NFL plugged into the web and fired up some Google Maps they fixed it

haven't been to a 49er game there but have been to JazzFest a bunch of times. I love New Orleans.
And from what I've heard they treat visitors quite well at the game.
