Even if Flores loses, the NFL is probably going to nail the Giants, and maybe even the Broncos.

This is completly wrong. The NFL is no more or less a business than Google, Apple or Mom and Pops ice cream parlor. The same general rules apply.

I would disagree. The local mom and pop ice cream shop probably can't tackle for s***.

the mom and pop wouldn't need to be the ones tackling

Does Google have the Rooney Rule? (No) Are each and every one of Google's major hire subject to the intense media scrutiny of the NFL? (No)

Yeah try again. The same rules do NOT apply because the NFL is bigger than Jesus in America.

Here is an example. I am a hiring manager for a small department at my company. We are currently a start-up that is now ready to move into an IPO very soon.
I had an employee that left in December. An employee I inherited when I moved to the company.

I have a former employee who worked for me for 8 years at my last company. I am recruiting her bigtime and she is awesome and I want her.

Although I have pretty much made up mind I am required by HR to go thru a series of interviews to meet certain laws. So although nothing will stop me from going after Erika I will set up a series of interviews per HR requirements. This is at almost any company you go to. Even if you have a candidate in mind you must go thru a series of interviews.

This process is no different than the NFL. You typically like to hire a candidate with a proven track record and you have had visibility with your own eyes. Erika never received a lower performance rating below excellent. But I will set up a series of at least four interviews to satisfy company requirements. What happens in the NFL happens everyday at your own places of employment.

Does this make me a horrible manager or the company a horrible place to work? I think not.

Why? I don't like him either but what does it have to do with this? The Giants, Dolphins and Browns are clearly in the wrong if the allegations are true — especially the paying to lose stuff. Those teams who paid to lose should be forced to sell, and the Giants should be docked draft picks for sham interviews (the Broncos too, if they did it).

Not sure where Goodell comes into play here. This is beyond him is these allegations are shown to be true.

No they have rules that there should be an internal number of minority candidates company wide. And this is tracked. How many CEOs are Gay, Chinese, Latin etc.

You don't measure by one position you measure by the company as a whole. I bet you will find there are 40% plus range if you take into account trainers, assistants, assistant coaches etc. Because a team has a white HC doesn't mean they do not have a very high percentage of other high ranking assistants that are in a minority group.

Sorry dude, go look at revenue. The NFL does not rank in fortune 250 for company revenue. The NFL makes a lot of money. Billions. There are many many many companies that make tens of billions. Much more than the NFL. Try again..

The country's obsession with forcing diversity is absolutely insane. Academia and big tech are the worst culprits of this.

You'd think we'd strive to be a country of equals, instead we're more concerned with putting people into boxes and filling quotas. It is unreal.

Football is supposed to be fun. The commish should be a beloved figure. This guy get viciously booed everyone he goes. That means his job approval is probably pretty low. In 2020 he came out publicly with statements saying he and the NFL were wrong on race and effed up big time and apologized. If you have bad optics why have this doofus leading the show probably doesn't help.

It's not so much as the revenue but they what they also represent all over the country. Sure a company like Boeing makes more money, but the average American doesn't care about them, they don't have channels that are dedicated to talking about them, they don't have the same impact in so many different cities, and much more.

Are you for real?

Say it with me together: MEDIA. SCRUTINY.

Money isn't the only measure of size in America. The NFL is ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE bigger than Google in American culture and media coverage.

I think you are missing the point here. Sure insular companies with execs you never heard of make more revenue. Fine. But those companies sell a product and profit without nearly the public exposure. The NFL is an entertainment industry. Think of the NBA the Daryl Morey tweet is estimated to have cost the league $400 million. One tweet. Companies aren't just gonna sit idly by and eat that kind of hit.

Yeah that's a good point. Replace him with Merton Hanks. And yes, because he was a 49er.

You didn't answer the second question, which explains why you so badly fluffed in your other response.

Are each and every one of Google's major hires subject to the intense media scrutiny of the NFL?

The answer is no. The comparison is thus invalid.
