The NFL used this video to highlight some of the injuries. I guess as a Niner fan, it kind of benefits our team since this rule change will only makes it more difficult to bring down guys like Kittle, CMC, Deebo, etc.
This is ridiculous, like I said, it's not even about concussions anymore. Alright I stand corrected, but no matter how a defender tackles or makes contact it could injure the offensive player. This is f**kin stupid.
Every offensive team meeting will be teaching their players to throw their weight backwards to try and draw this dumbass penalty. Can't wait for Mahomes to be driving for a game winning FG and goes out to scramble and a defender tackles him from behind getting a free 15 and clock stop for a game winning FG.

How about correcting holding? lol
They only care about scoring points and trying to legislate injuries out of a contact sport even though every player would prefer the strike zone be higher and the league saying go lower.

The referees have a difficult task being consistent game to game and crew to crew with " judgement calls " already….obviously this is going to make things harder with more controversial calls influencing the outcomes of games which is not good. BTW, is it known if this new penalty is reviewable ?

Great. One more subjective penalty for officials to watch for. Is this going to be reviewable?

I hope not. I watched AJ Hawk and JJ Watt they said hip drop tackle isn't even a thing. It's something the league just made up. Some fouls like lowering the crown of the helmet, you don't see flagged much on gameday, they just issue fines from the Commish office, that's how I hope this goes. Getting closer to flag football every year folks.

Imagine sacking a QB from behind. If you unweight yourself it's a hip drop tackle if you weight yourself it's a body weight penalty. Make it make sense. Just horse collar sack every QB until it's banned

I'm sure they'll be consistent with the calls.
Just another way to influence the outcome they want.
Cool. NFL becomes even worse
we all knew this day was coming.

So what are you supposed to do when in that situation? The offensive player has a better angle than you. There's no way any of those guys are getting down with a straight tackle. What a BS rule and the ultimate "refs have to determine" BS that will screw defenses…

The more rules the more excuses to throw flags. This is a way for them to change the outcomes of games to fit their agenda. Last year they wanted the Chiefs to win because of Taylor Swift. They can literally throw a flag on any given play at this point. Now it's easier to manipulate the outcome.

You can't do a hip drop tackle? If the guy is running full speed and you dive to just get him down and pull him too the ground. What are you supposed to do now? I hate this league and the direction of it. It's getting ridiculous now. They want games to be 110 - 90. No defense allowed. This is not football anymore. Why do they have to continue to destroy the game?

The Bills should just run Allen every play. How the hell are you suppose to tackle him with this new rediculous rule.
