I'm guessing this is the first time folks have actually seen Jones without his helmet. lol.

Dude has had this same look since he got into the league. He reminds me of a cartoon character, I forget which tho.

Is he Adam Gase's son?

Maybe nobody else cares, but I was surprised listening to the undisputed program a little bit this morning and Sherm is back on the show after a couple months. Well I guess that DUI arrest must've gone very well. That show isn't so bad after they reformatted the whole thing and got rid of the fake Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless always taking opposite sides of an argument.
Hearing Goodell's comments on preseason really give insight into his mindset on football. His preference is for an 18 game season and two preseason games. I get that preseason games aren't entertaining, but it's a step up from scrimmages and it takes time to get up to that point. These reps matter for those bottom of the roster guys. OL quality has already suffered with the limited practices. It also lessens the opportunity for other teams to see bottom of the roster guys on tape. I get that it's a money grab, but sheesh.

it has to be 18. the ocd part of me cannot stand an odd number of games. you have teams with more home than road games.

I agree about odd games. I also thought 16 was enough. There was a beautiful symmetry in that schedule. But billionaires gotta have more.

This was, perhaps, the biggest draft shocker out of all shockers. The New York Giants are sticking with Daniel Jones. I cannot imagine how or why. But they are. The team chose not to draft a QB. They also did not spend a single pick on an offensive lineman, which was one of the team's biggest failings last season. Not only did Jones fail big time, his line failed to protect him. It eventually ended in a season ending knee injury.

As 49er fans we can moan and complain about the decision to not select an offensive tackle with the first pick in the draft. It seemed, to many fans, that tackle was the team's biggest need. But it's nothing compared to what the New York Giants have done. Daniel Jones has turned in one very average season that earned his team a spot in a wild card game. True, they did win that game. Then they were absolutely crushed by the Eagles.

Yet, in my opinion, he has done nothing to merit another season at the helm of one of the most storied franchises in the NFL. I cannot imagine what it must be like to be a fan of this team. 49er fans would be screaming at Kyle Shanahan and the York family for sticking with Jones. It reminds me of the frustrating years with Alex Smith, but even Smith wasn't nearly this bad. His fortunes changed when the team hired Harbaugh. Overnight, the 49er QB that couldn't tie his own shoelaces was lighting up the scoreboard and leading the team to playoff wins. Jones hasn't shown any type of ability like that.

Am I missing something?

Would think it has less to do with any kind of confidence in Jones, and more to do with not liking the available prospects. They would have had to either take the 4th QB drafted or trade a huge amount of assets to get up and get one of the top 3 guys… which may not even have been an option to them.

Overdrafting at the position is how they got Jones in the first place.

I both agree and disagree. Great QB's can be found in the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh rounds. Franchise changing QB's can be found in every round. Yes, it's true that some were first round picks. It's also true that others were drafted in the third, fifth and seventh rounds. With Jones, however, they should have known by the end of the second or third year that he just was not going to be "that guy." Some coaches don't even need that kind of time. If a QB doesn't do anything to merit a second season, they don't get it.

You don't need to draft a QB in the first round. It's the biggest fallacy in all of football. The Giants did not "overdraft" to get Jones. They just missed. It happens. You admit the mistake and move on. There's no need to waste five years of time.

Yet the Giants are going to stick with Jones. It will cost Daboll the one true shot he had to become a successful HC. At least in New York.
Need to start recruiting sumo wrestlers to play OL. That's a 17 year old that Micah Parsons is going up against.

If they go to 18 games they better do 2 bye weeks, & up the 53-man roster to 58 or so, they'll never do away with the active game day roster with inactives, but if I'm the NFLPA I'm requiring that plus another up on minimum salaries like the last CBA, which on;y got approved by not as much as you'd want it too, 1 reason De Smith isn't the head of the PA anymore.

I agree with this, but tbh I always felt like 16 games was fine and with 2 byes would have been better. They did that once when I was younger and the players loved it. They want to add more games which means more injuries, yet the entire football world has evovled for less development and growth so the quality of play is dropping. Greed is a mofo.
