Damn, he was such a staple of ESPN's NFL coverage in the 00's. One of the funniest commercials of all time.

I was surprised when I heard thus since he was only 67. I guess he had some kind of illness. The professor will be missed during the draft.

David Ojabo tore his ACL during his pro day. Really a tough break for him. That makes him a target for the Niners in the 3rd round since they love injured players.

Yup. Cleveland paid an unprecedented price for a guy who's a joke. What fools.

I' more concerned about what that fully guaranteed contract will do to the league. You kniw there's going to be ore guys holding out for a fully guaranteed contract. Will teams start signing players for fewer years if the have to guaranty all the money? If the don't they could end uo with a lot of dead money for palyers that get injured.
Maybe the league responds by adjusting the cap and making guaranteed money not apply once a player is injured and can no longer perform. Imagine how hamstrung Cleveland will be if Watson gets injured his first season and can't ever play again.
NFL salaries are escalating at an alarming rate. QB numbers are going from $20 Million to $30 or $40 million. Other positions will follow. You know who's going to pay for this. Cable, satellite and streaming rates will all rise as the NFL increases their asking price for access. Ticket and parking prices will go up too. It's already nearly impossible for many people to afford a season ticket so they have to pick a few games or maybe one game to attend. Families are almost a thing of the past at football games. To taker your wife and 2 children you're looking at least $1000 per game and probably more. That's for the tickets. It doesn't include parking, gas or any food.

No joke. I went to my first 49ers game a few years back and was about 12 rows up around the 40 yard line. Insane prices. It really sucks that these experiences aren't really open to families like that- median income in this country is anywhere from 31 to 44k. Who the hell can take a family to a game on that?

It started with Kirk Cousins and Daniel Snyder playing power games.
After being franchised multiple times and coming out the other side Cousins kept the short term guaranteed deals as his standard.
His original vikings deal was 3 years 84 million fully guaranteed.
Russell Wilson has been saying he wants his next deal fully guaranteed for a while now
This is the next competitive contract tool for the NFL.
Guarantee the entire contract

Prices have gone up on everything since I was kid but sports and live concert prices have gone crazy. It used to be common to see guys bring their kids to games but not anymore. NBA court side tickets routinely go for $5K and up. Only the ultra wealthy can afford tickets like that. I know that not every player is making those crazy salaries but there are more and more. Even the mid tier guys are getting a ton of money. The guys making near minimum aren't overpaid but they aren'y the ones driving ticket prices.
