But this is why they say stay in your car and call for assistance. Or at the very least exit the vehicle away from the damn side of the road.

They were wondering why he was walking on the freeway. Possibly ran out of gas.

What the.... Damn. Too young and just awful. RIP

Of all the things a young player worries about when he goes to the NFL, getting hit by a car is probably at the bottom of the list. Injuries come with the territory. Possible robberies or even being shot by some crazy fan. Car crashes happen a lot when these players buy a Ferrari or some other fast sports car and lose control.

But being hit while walking? Wow.

WOW!

Anyone got anymore details? If he was training with teammates how did he wind up getting hit by a dump truck?

I surprised my 9 year daughter with a road trip to magic mountain last week. Tire blew out on the 5 and I pulled over to the side. Got out of the car to check and cars were zooming by. Thinking how lucky and grateful we were to get out of that safely.

Such a terrible accident.

It could have just been vapor lock. It's the third most common cause of stalling.

I have tried to find verification of what you are saying, but all I see are a bunch of articles citing the exact same unverified account concerning Dwayne driving to the airport and running out of gas.

The authorities have kept it vague, as is SOP while an investigation is ongoing: "Mr. Haskins was walking on a limited access facility (Highway/expressway) for unknown reasons. He was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of Interstate 595 when there was oncoming traffic. Unfortunately, he collided with an oncoming dump truck. Mr. Haskins was pronounced dead on scene," the Florida Highway Patrol announced Saturday morning.

So sad, regardless.
