Anyone that saw LT, end of the conversation.

500x better than Donald I'd rather have LT for one season than Donald for his career.

Yup. Also, Reggie white and Bruce smith come to mind as well.

Yeah White, Smith, LT, Derrick Thomas, 100 other guys, heck BY was better maybe Donald got more sacks (yay) but BY was a much better run defender and better team player locker room guy. Dude won the Eshmont Award 8 times. You think Donald would have done that? See you in the Hall next to BY, Donald, if they don't bust you on roids first.

Yeah, Donald is better than Bryant Young, and he's my favorite 49er alongside Frank Gore. Sorry.

Why is Donald better than BY? Pass rush okay fine. It's common knowledge Donald is considered at best an average run defender and at worst a mediocre vs the run. The sacks give him all the cache and accolades but they don't make him a better player, playing the run is an equal part of the job and BY laps Donald there. This is before even getting into the locker room presence BY smokes him there too. And BY could get after the QB.

I Love BY but that leg injury robbed him, he could have been A.Donald back in the day.

Except he's actually a good run defender as well. Just stop lmao
I think an interesting question to also ask is he even the best dlineman to wear a rams uni? They have some hall of famers there
You wont get a single non-49er fan saying that Bryant Young was a better player than Aaron Donald is. I am all for favoring your own players, but come on.

Von is better an actual SB MVP. Ramsey is everything you would want in a flat out #1 corner. No weakness in his game like Donald has with his run D.
We get it dude. You personally dislike Aaron Donald. Noted.

Nothing personal. I like some Rams such as Robert Woods. He's great just far from a generational or greatest of all time. Von Miller has had a much better career. More career sacks and more sacks in the 2021 postseason.

Its not dislike, it just seems like he doesn't really understand football, especially when you consider his other posts as well.

No way in hell is Donald the best ever. Honestly doesn't even make my top 10.

Cornerbacks
Middle Linebackers
DE/OLB

Those position's have priority over DT on my list.

There are only 3 players to have 3 Defensive Players of the Year in NFL History (one being Donald), and he doesn't make your top 10?!

LOL.

Whos AD really got as competition for the award though? Imo there were far more greater defensive player back then, then there is now. A aging Von Miller? Nah. JJ Watt is aged and brittle now. Darius Leonard? Hmm. TJ Watt is good competition i see him winning it a few more times.. Fred Warner? ... great player but I don't see him winning this award. Nick Bosa could win it one day. Who knows. Myles Garret would be a solid bet to push for the award. Back then you had guys like LT, Ray Lewis, Dion Sanders, Reggie White, Bruce Smith, Sapp, Ed Reed , Derrick Brooks. Jason Taylor, Urlacher, Polamalu, Charles Woodson... I could go on and on. Just in my opinion there was far more elite defensive talent back then. So who's really pushed the needle for AD for this award this generation?

Half those guys you named played in different eras.

And the reason you saw "better" defensive players back then is bc they didn't play with the same rule changes of today. It's not like guys are smaller and weaker than previous eras.
Mmm... As far as his 8 year resume goes--- SB ring, 8 Pro Bowls, 7 All-Pros, DROTY, lead the league in sacks in 2018, 3x Defensive Player of the Year, has been ranked in the top 100 players yearly since 2015 and has been in the top 3 the last three years.

And he's done it largely from an interior lineman position, where he gets a lot of double-teams.

I haven't really thought too much about the other great NFL defenders in NFL history. But I think that yeah... it's fair to have him in the conversation. If he wants to, he's still got 3, 4, 5+ more years to really solidify a case for himself.
