Rams are on the line and they are offering you Aaron Donald via trade. They want Nick Bosa. What do you do? I would laugh and hang up the phone but that's just me.

I'd make the move in a hear beat. Bosa is great but Donald is on another level. Maybe Nick gets there some day but he's not even the the best guy at his position in the league and that's exactly what Donald is today and has been since his 2nd season on.

Edge > defensive tackle and even an above average edge rusher (top 5 or 10) holds more value than the number 1 DT. Furthermore, Bosa is finishing year 3 and not even in his prime. Donald is finishing year 8. There's a reason the Rams went out and added Von Miller, and even edge rusher to their team, despite the fact that they already had Leonard Floyd. He's also not dominant in the run game and gets handled by Daniel Brunskill of all people.

Bosa for Donald is horrible business on so many levels and that's with acknowledging Donald is the better player.

I mean... I'm not sure Aaron Donald was even the best defensive player of his generation. Is he better than Sherman, Watt, Revis, Willis, Ed Reed, Polamalu etc?

Ya, he's better. I would put Watt over him, in his prime he was more dominant, but he's only had 5 good seasons.

But it's hard to really compare all those different positions as well.

Watts only one should be in the conversation with Donald.

Donald over Bosa in a heartbeat. People keep saying edge > interior, but that's not entirely true. Donald isn't your typical defensive tackle, he literally affects EVERY single snap and must be accounted for. A complete game changer. Bosa disappears time to time, and he's not always doubled, contrary to what the homers on here want you to believe.
I can't consider anyone who gets stonewalled by Daniel Brunskill the best anything

Also offensive line play is so bad now compared to previous eras due to the lack of practice and development time that I think people overrate Donald because he's an undersized DT who is dominating really poor guards and tackles league wide.

Poor take.

This is how I would rank the above players listed:

Reed
Watt
Donald
Polamalu
Shermz

Of course you take Bosa now as Donald is aging and already talking retirement. In their primes though? I'd go Donald as Bosa has already missed more games in 3 seasons than Donald has in 8 by a long shot. Donald has only missed 2 games over his career.

That would make one of you (on all of this minus Watt).

Lol Donald the "paper" best ever as in on paper not with the eye test during actual games. Watt can't stay healthy to save his life. Ed Reed was 10x the player Donald is.

Do you have any sort of argument to back up these opinions? Because if not, I will simply stop responding.

Reed:
8x All Pro (5 1st team)
1 DPOY

Donald:
7x All Pro (all 7 1st team)
3 DPOY

The idea that Donald is 1/10th the player Reed was is laughably ridiculous. So do you want to add anything to your asinine opinion, or should I just start ignoring it? Your call.

Metrics like all pro don't mean utter jack. Recall that in 2013 before Brady had his second wind and became the utter GOAT, the NFL did a top 100 players in league history. The league itself named Jerry Rice the #1 player ever. Do you know how many NFL MVP awards the then greatest player in league history won? Surely 4. Five. Maybe six, right?

Correct answer is zero. In fact no receiver has ever won NFL MVP and a kicker has. Does that tell anything? It tells me the award process for the league is broken.

When you watch the games that's the eye test from watching Rams football I'm not impressed (when I say not impressed clearly he's extremely good but not impressed on par with his plaudits) with Donald and I suspect although I have no evidence he may be using roids. His head is suspiciously large his body looks downright silly and he had a rage incident throwing his helmet everywhere and getting ejected. Ed Reed is one of the greatest cover safeties of all time.
