Does Anyone On This Webzone Believe That Aaron Donald Is The Best Defensive Player Ever!?!

Lot of biased hate in this thread. Imo he is very close to, but i still have LT as the best, but with a razor thin lead.

That would make one of you (on all of this minus Watt).

Lol Donald the "paper" best ever as in on paper not with the eye test during actual games. Watt can't stay healthy to save his life. Ed Reed was 10x the player Donald is.

Do you have any sort of argument to back up these opinions? Because if not, I will simply stop responding.

Reed:
8x All Pro (5 1st team)
1 DPOY

Donald:
7x All Pro (all 7 1st team)
3 DPOY

The idea that Donald is 1/10th the player Reed was is laughably ridiculous. So do you want to add anything to your asinine opinion, or should I just start ignoring it? Your call.

Metrics like all pro don't mean utter jack. Recall that in 2013 before Brady had his second wind and became the utter GOAT, the NFL did a top 100 players in league history. The league itself named Jerry Rice the #1 player ever. Do you know how many NFL MVP awards the then greatest player in league history won? Surely 4. Five. Maybe six, right?

Correct answer is zero. In fact no receiver has ever won NFL MVP and a kicker has. Does that tell anything? It tells me the award process for the league is broken.

When you watch the games that's the eye test from watching Rams football I'm not impressed (when I say not impressed clearly he's extremely good but not impressed on par with his plaudits) with Donald and I suspect although I have no evidence he may be using roids. His head is suspiciously large his body looks downright silly and he had a rage incident throwing his helmet everywhere and getting ejected. Ed Reed is one of the greatest cover safeties of all time.

Have a nice night. LOL

Donald over Bosa in a heartbeat. People keep saying edge > interior, but that's not entirely true. Donald isn't your typical defensive tackle, he literally affects EVERY single snap and must be accounted for. A complete game changer. Bosa disappears time to time, and he's not always doubled, contrary to what the homers on here want you to believe.

Surely you jest, Deek. Or maybe you don't watch the games. There are games I watch (I live in LA and my wife is a Rams fan with season tickets) where #99 is either on his back or smothered by some offensive lineman. Now, he does make dominant plays but never have I seen him dominate a game. And he definitely ain't the BEST defensive player ever!!!
Donald is the best right now probably. but as others have said, eye-test and impact wise...there are several better.

Lawrence Taylor completely changed the complexion of the league and what a defense/defensive player could do.

Deion, Reggie White, Ed Reed....

There's plenty of others that have been mentioned. That's only me growing up in the 90's.
Nah bruh Bruce Smith the goat

Not even close.."good" I'd go even say a great player ..."for this era",, teams do have to scheme a bit for him ,but he's not constantly dominate ,,to many other defensive players of his caliber and skillset for him to be the "best ever" . LT changed the game ,,Mean Joe Green instilled fear through out the entire team he would play against , Theres Ray Lewis,,and so on and so on Heck ,i'd even be inclined to say Ronnie Lott in his day commanded the same amount respect Donald brings to the game ..On top of that Lott brought a much better leadership and a commanding field presence to the ENTIRE defense then what Donald brings to his,, yes i am biased to a extent, I'm a niners fan .. but the truth isn't.. It is what it is ..Bottom line is that there are just to many other great players that changed the game , were innovators ,instilled fear ,commanded respect and were constantly dominate..IMHO Donald isn't,...HOF absolutely ,best ever ...nope

Yeah probably best right now, but when I think of players who destroyed the game I think Reggie and LT
Niners fans are the worst people to answer this question. For the most part, Shanahan and the coaching staff have found the secret sauce to contain this monster till late in the NFC title game this year. He's an all time great, but nowhere close to the greatest defensive player ever. I would vote for LT myself. He changed the game single handedly.

HOF maybe if he isn't busted for roids everyone knows that keeps you out. To even compare Donald to Ronnie Freakin Lott oh lord.. He was 100x the player Donald is.

Anyone that saw LT, end of the conversation.

500x better than Donald I'd rather have LT for one season than Donald for his career.
Great player. One of the best. Best defensive player in the league/ever? Laughable.

Yeah White, Smith, LT, Derrick Thomas, 100 other guys, heck BY was better maybe Donald got more sacks (yay) but BY was a much better run defender and better team player locker room guy. Dude won the Eshmont Award 8 times. You think Donald would have done that? See you in the Hall next to BY, Donald, if they don't bust you on roids first.
