What is it with this team and letting reliable players go?
Trading an ALL Pro, who stays in the field, Buckner.......then the next few seasons "omg we need Dline help, 1st round pick Kinlaw ain't cutting it"
Letting a Probowler, that stays healthy, Laken Tomlinson go....then the next few seasons "Omg we need interior protection"
Letting K'Waun Williams go (for f'n 7mill)....then the next few seasons "Omg we need a nickel!"
And now McCloud....then the next few seasons "omg we need a punt returner than can catch"
You really think we should've kept Laken Tomlinson? Idk if you've watched, but Lenoir is pretty good. As for Ray Ray, he was known for fumbling in Pittsburgh.. he became more solid here but provided nothing more than fair catches mostly. The team has got to get younger talent on rookie contracts.
Hell Yes when it came to Laken... I'm always for pay alittle more for what you know, than gambling for the unknown... especially when you're in your playoff window.
And we struggled at nickel before finally settling for Lenoir there... but hell they didn't even start this season him.. they banked on Oliver at nickel.
Ray Ray didn't fumble much with us....I think most fans trusted him back there for a reason..... but more importantly, he also contributed on offense when needed. 🤷🏾♂️
You bring up money... but when we have ignored/ been in denial about a position before going into a season... I swear we ended up having to sign new players along the way to make up for f**k ups or injuries (for injury prone players) anyway.
I don't think paying a little extra for key ingredients is a bad thing... Making a Super Bowl push, having a reliable nickle and a reliable returner.. plus reliable kicker. Those little things matter when you face the best teams in the playoffs.
I don't think we lost McCloud to a huge deal just like how we didn't really lose Williams to a huge deal.. (f'n 7mill).
