I think we just need to realize we are going to draft a RB every year in rounds 3-5 and none of us will be happy about it.

The 49ers run their backs into the ground and spit them out after a couple years.

They must really like him to reach this high.

This pick is literally admitting Sermon was a bust. I guess I like that they are admitting it, but man, we're using high picks on these guys...

Trey Sermon was such a terrible pick that the organization felt compelled to draft a RB in round 3.

That's not the worst part. The worst part is we didn't learn our lesson in terms of picking the correct scheme fit. At least Joe Williams looked like a solid zone runner.

Also he would have been there in rd 4, why take at #93?

We just picked Trey Sermon last year in the 3rd round. We have other bigger needs IMO.

And Sermon couldn't make it on to the field as a rookie. This is clear that they don't have a lot of faith in him turning out to be anything so they are investing in another BIG back.

So, the answer was to reach for a RB who looks as slow as Sermon, has ball-security issues and can't pass protect?

Interesting

So why not get an OG because Banks did s**t

He's like Walsh, except Walsh wants a QB every year. Shanahan picks RB
We had 6 listed visits with RB and we reach for this guy instead. Makes me a little curious. Was he always a target, did we change our mind late?

Our other two were guys had visits with.

This feels very "out of left field" so not really sure what to think.

*shrugs*

its rounds 3-5 where 5% of the picks have long careers

drafting a RB makes sense imo that way you never pay for that 2nd contract and stay young and fresh at the position

Is this guy not worth the pick? I don't know anything about him but I know the niners lose at least 2 running backs every year
I don't mind the pick at all, especially since our RB's seem to always get hurt. Now we can roll with Mitchell-Wilson-Sermon-Davis Price as our 4 RB's on the 53, and put Hasty on the PS.
It's next to impossible to justify this pick in the third. This is a theme for this regime—selecting players that they fall in love with well before they need to.
