Only pick so far that I'm not a fan of.

Pierre Strong would've been better around the 4th round.

if you like a player you take him i dont get the idea of waiting to draft a guy you really likeat the risk of losing him

we have a pretty good track record when it comes to drafting too. Its rare for teams to get 2 contributors per draft and we consistently have been getting that if not more
I'm all for taking a RB but this guy better be special to be taken in the 3rd round...another D lineman, an OG/C, a DB, anything else seems like it would've made more sense.
Terrible pick, just like sermon was. Safety depth is looking suspect, and the Oline is looking horrible. Plus this team proves time and time again it can get players after the fifth plus in udfa to produce, and produce well. Plus you reached just as the cherry on top. If you use a fourth or higher on a running back you are wasting a pick, because it's unlikely you will hit enough on the pick.

runningbacks picked in the 4th and earlier in the shanny era: joe Williams, and Trey sermon. Not looking good for this guy. I don't even need to name the guys picked after the 5th it's every guy whose been good for us and deebo whose a wideout. If this guy or Trey sermon aren't top notch contributors the picks are a net loss, just considering how much production we get out of late picks.

hey the oline maybe Swiss cheese and safety looks like a big question mark but atleast we have a third or fourth running back depending on hasty.

And Sermon couldn't make it on to the field as a rookie. This is clear that they don't have a lot of faith in him turning out to be anything so they are investing in another BIG back.

So, the answer was to reach for a RB who looks as slow as Sermon, has ball-security issues and can't pass protect?

Interesting

Is this guy not worth the pick? I don't know anything about him but I know the niners lose at least 2 running backs every year

5th round talent.

Massive reach.

not too many 215 pound RB can run in the 4.4s

also he has really good vision and reads blocks well that is something Sermon really lacked (along with top end speed - he was just a bruiser)

i think this guy will be a great #2 RB to mitchell and be the bruiser we wanted and used Deebo for
I don't mind the pick. Last year the entire running back core was again not durable to the point where our #1 WR had to be our #1 RB. Eli showed some flashes, but I don't think he has the build to endure a full season and we definitely don't want to run Deebo into the ground. I don't see a problem using premium picks for a key position in our offense... you should keep using them until you find someone who can last and be productive. No more Glass Joes.

Would have more sense to have re-signed Mostert and draft someone else with this pick.

The 49ers run their backs into the ground and spit them out after a couple years.

He's like Walsh, except Walsh wants a QB every year. Shanahan picks RB

And John picks DL.
Been wanting Shanny to have a one/two punch set of running backs like he had in Atlanta. Not sure what is up with all the hate. Did people forget we are running by committee or what he used to do in Atlanta?
Terrible pick, this staff just throws good money after bad.

I am nearly certain this means Sermon gets cut.

i think we are looking for a bruiser

someone who can run between the tackles and inside zone runs so we dont have to use Deebo for those

I've always been asking for us to draft a bruiser. I'm just not happy with us taking one so early.
I thought we could get by with UDFA RB's?

We now have a 7th round starter with two back up 3rd round RB's.
