the tender was just to buy some time and see what they could get for him.
I liked him when healthy but staying healthy was an issue.

My thought is Mason was not old he was still young and knew the offense. Why draft another RB and have to wait for them to learn the offense and to protect Brock on a blitz.

The cold reality is the more workload Mason got his body couldn't cope. He got injured and then became far less effective last season.

At his best his physical running is great but the greater workload he got the less effective/reliable he was.

49ers are better off with the extra pick this upcoming draft.

oops yeah sorry it was a 4th. 139 is a 4th. But still that's a big drop. That 7th RD comp pick is not going to help much.

I get it. We are trying to re set the books for the future . And paying 5 mil for a RB who could end up being 3rd on the roster seems counter productive to that goal. It could come back to bite us if CMC is done but regardless people just need to accept this season for what it is.

Not sure why anyone is upset over Mason. He was good but Shanahan finds UDFA that turn into solid contributors pretty regularly. Essentially gettinga 5th and a 6th for an UDFA Running Back isn't that bad. The 2nd rounder was never going to happen so thus isn't too bad.

I thought he would be worth more than that.

Lynch and Shanahan are getting stupider by the day! We don't know if CMC comes back 100%, so lets go ahead and trade our #2 RB who led the NFL in rushing the first part of last season for a f*cking 6th round pick? What the hell? Why do you put a 2nd round tender on a guy, and then give him away for a 6th? Mason was the best guy at moving the chains last year, had the best YPC. He's a great complement to the team when Shanahan would let him play. This is penny wise and pound foolish! They don't save that much to give Mason away. Either Lynch and Shanahan have been totally castrated by Jed York, or they've turned into the biggest f*cktards in the NFL this offseason. Oh, and BTW, still no OL or DL signings after all the departues. WTF!!!
