I guess just don't use the pick on an RB and just use the 6th or lower on an RB or wait for an UDFA RB to replace him.

This.

The really important thing is that they now have TWO picks in the first half of the money round!

The fact that Mason was successful last year just shows that running backs in Kyle's offense tend to do well. Guerendo when healthy last year did well himself. Patrick Taylor had his best season a pro last year. Nobody was signing Mason with the 2nd round tender. Swapping a 6th for a 5th and adding a 6th next year is probably about right. Maybe Shanahan can turn Israel Abanikanda into the next hidden gem.

We basically used what we were going to pay to bring back Juice. That's a win IMO

My thought is Mason was not old he was still young and knew the offense. Why draft another RB and have to wait for them to learn the offense and to protect Brock on a blitz.
Agreed.
Have to agree with this, too.

Mason couldn't pick up the blitz.

I never said anything about Juice backing up CMC.
I said we used the money we would have to give to Mason, 5.2 mil to sign Juice and his 7 mil guaranteed

I've gotta be honest… it would be a "splashy" pick but I really, really don't think we can afford to make splashy luxury picks in this draft. We really need to draft as much DL and OL as possible. I don't like using our 2nd on a RB right out the gate given the stakes of this draft.
But if he turns out to be the next Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley or CMC then he's easily worth it.
