So you'd keep Mason at 5.25 mil? That's starting RB money.
He was tagged with a 2nd round tender for the sole purpose of a trade. Plain and simple.
And yes, I do think Shanahan will find a RB in the 5th or 6th round. He has since he has been a coach. So did his dad. It's what they do.
They found Guerendo who would have been ahead of Mason in the 4th round.

This is the real news from this move and I suggest this fanbase start preparing so they don't meltdown during the draft lol
I've gotta be honest… it would be a "splashy" pick but I really, really don't think we can afford to make splashy luxury picks in this draft. We really need to draft as much DL and OL as possible. I don't like using our 2nd on a RB right out the gate given the stakes of this draft.
But if he turns out to be the next Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley or CMC then he's easily worth it.

Doubt it. Super deep RB draft. Rookie will be even cheaper. Unless they go insane and pick Jeanty in R1.

I think this was a great day. Juice came back on a two year deal. Mason was traded, moving up in the draft in 2025 and a 6th rounder next year is the cake and gaining 5 million in cap space back is the frosting . jeanty will be tempting if available in round 1 but I favor OT DT early and rb round 5

Good for practically free, not great for fringe starter money. You know Kyle will use CMC as a workhorse, and you already know Guerendo can handle the backup role. They'll find a 3rd RB so easily they probably won't even have to draft him.
Mason did well, but in the wrong year, his departure was inevitable.
