The difference between finishing with the #5 seed and the #6 seed is huge in the AFC. It's going from playing one of Bills,Chiefs, Bengals, To playing the Jags or Titans.

That showdown we all knew was coming against the Eagles? Not going to happen. In just three short weeks the Eagles went from best in the NFL to losing their QB, their best tackle and their most dominant pass rusher.

News reports claim Jalen Hurts will return to play next week. Even if he does return, he won't be the same QB. Shoulders don't heal in two weeks of time. They don't heal in four weeks. Three months? Yes, but by that time the season is over.

As painful as this sounds remember this: As 49er fans we have all lived through this. We saw it last year when Garoppolo limped into the playoffs with his shoulder in a sling. Remember that? I do. His injury eventually required surgery. I think Jalen's shoulder may also require similar offseason treatment.

Even if the Eagles win this weekend, the only thing that will prevent the 49ers from hosting the NFC title game is if they lose in the divisional round.

I fully expect Niners to take care of business vs the cards and the giants to beat the eagles this weekend.
